been there done that, it is mind boggling
its never easy on anyone for a friend or family to do such a thing
granted some are are more understandable to a point if they were terminal and in sever pain .
my wife's cousin just did the same with in the last week (we found out he shot him self )
no one knows why ( except him ) family is a lost as to why , from what I gather no note no tip off anything was wrong .no known health or financial problems he must have just kept it bottled up inside [V]
like some I have lost a few family and friends that chose that way out .

Too old to live...too young to die...
A lot of promise, but let life get away from him and eventually gave up.
Shocked and sad, but did not entertain hurt or mad.
It was easier for me that way.
Takes a while to put it behind you, and I wish you the best.
At least he is a peace now.

I was planning to stop off after work at his house the night he shot himself but the weather was bad and I decided to go on home instead. I've always wondered if I had stopped that night would it have changed anything.
Prayers from here.
Some souls need return to the source.
Prayers for those left behind. To understand.
Sorry for your loss, Joe.
I totally get the mad/hurt thing! Good friend and next door neighbor 'offed' himself in his driveway a couple years back. Got a call from a contractor I had hired to grade our road. "I'm not sure, but I think your neighbor just shot himself; it's starting to snow and he's been sitting there for a while in shorts and a T-shirt." His wife was at the grocery store. I was the first one there. The day after Thanksgiving.
If he was alive today I'd thoroughly KICK...HIS...*, just beat him like a red headed stepchild!

I do remember that. Yes,agree, thank you. Blessings.
I have lost five friends over the past 25 years, all in law enforcement. The last one was one of my oldest friends who took his life this past December. Just like you, it was a complete surprise to his close friends.
It's never easy on anyone who is left, and I hope everyone gets through it OK. [:(]
The demons that live inside a man's mind and heart, most of the time, are never seen by family or friends. It's not like a broken arm in a cast, "Oh, bet that hurt.", we can all see that kind of pain.
But what drives some one to end their life, is mostly never seen. For some, the battle to make it another day is too much.
The real pain is for those left behind and the question of "what if".
A prayer said for all those left behind.
