Screw Brownells !

I bought a book on February 25th (American Sniper hardcover)from Brownells and they charged me $7.95 shipping. You would think that it would be here by now. Why would they give it to UPS and then tell them to give it the local Post Office? For $7.95 they should have shipped it Priority Mail or Media.

My theory is that a Mailbox is something for which there are federal laws that penalize tampering. Leaving a book on the doorstep does not have that protection.
Looks like the book will be delivered today or tomorrow. 5 days for under $ 8.00? Not a bad deal, really.

It won't be delivered today, that's not my Post Office, best I can hope for is Saturday.

I have ordered from Brownells for years now but what I mention above kinda pisses me off. I just placed an order from Midway for 2 items that combined weigh more then the above order Midway charged me only $9.19. I also know that they will give it to UPS and it will end up coming from the postal service. That I can handle, I just don't know what is up with Brownells and their recent upsurge in shipping charges. Brownells could have sent my previous order by Priority mail for about $7. They charged me more then double of what it actually cost them to ship. Midway is more then twice the distance from me as Brownells is and they are shipping a heavier package, and thats how shipping charges are determined.
How is Brownells responsible for what UPS does?
IMO, if a company can not get items out within 24 hours, they need to hire enough help to make that happen.
That UPS/USPS handoff does often add a day to some deliveries.
......and then there is the ice.
Did you know that the shipping cost $7.95? And you said yes?
It's been 9 days since I paid for the book.

For me, life is too short to worry about such things.
If I need something in a hurry, I pay for next day or second day shipment. If not, I don't get too worked up about how long something takes.
Shipping is so cheap today, that I continue to be amazed at how fast something can be transported from one place to another at such a low cost.

USPS 2 day is about $5.
Sitting on his money for 5 days before shipping is the worst part of the delay, IMO.
I also told them there was an internet thread on GB in regards to them and that one member in particular was pissed that he had been waiting for merchandise for over a week.
SHE WAS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF GB how in this day and age could that happen especially when you work in a firearms related field.
She had no clue how GB even worked.[xx(][xx(][xx(]
Brownells was good to me the last time I ordered. I had to back order Aluma Hyde II in Coyote and Magpul FDE. They shipped the first one that came in and then only charged me half price on the second color plus no shipping on the second delivery. This was without any inquiry.
I have had the same situation where one of the items they shipped me had to go through an FFL. They only charged me shipping on the FFL item and the stuff that came to my home was shipped free. I have no problems with Brownells as a whole and they're great to do business wise but I just can't get past that $15.95 shipping fee.
Man, take your pills! Sheesh...
Many folks don't seem to realize there is more to shipping expenses than just the actual postage or UPS charge.
I ship stuff almost every day and I know exactly what it costs to ship and the expenses involved. I've got accounts set up with UPS, Fed/Ex and the Post Office. Tell me about it and I have to take it some where to ship it. They don't come to me like UPS comes to Brownells. I have to get boxes and buy tape and shipping materials just like they do.
With all the crap I've given away here I've never paid anywhere near $16 to ship.
So because this book is taking a little longer than you wanted, you say SCREW the entire company? Have you SEEN weather conditions across the country?
Man, take your pills! Sheesh...
It took them 5 days to ship and has been, as of tomorrow, in my area 3 days!
It came across the Country in only 2 days.
It's only 4 miles from me!

So MAYBE the problem isn't with BROWNELL'S! Is it the Brownell's delivery guy?
I reiterate...take a pill...sheesh!
No wonder it took them so long to ship, they didn't have the advertised book.

I don't buy books from them though[:D]
Amazon tops the list and you will find some surprisingly esoteric titles offered.

I'd be glad to take you lunch if you ever make it this far east. [:)]

UPS transfers things to the USPS for final delivery all of the time.

I would bet it has more to do with profit margin. It is likely a lot cheaper for UPS to ship a town's worth of packages to the local post office and pay for local USPS delivery than it is to actually distribute with their own people/infrastructure. Classic out-sourcing/sub-contracting, it's all about the money. [:D]
My San Diego package went from San Diego to Hodgkins, IL and back to San Diego then to Hodgkins, IL. They must have saved almost a week with that trick.

I can see that work with smaller towns but I live in a metro area of 1.5 million and they still do it. I'm pretty sure the Midway order I have coming this week will arrive the same way. UPS & USPS have major hubs only a few blocks apart here. I have a UPS truck on my block every day Monday - Friday and yet they still do it.
