You know the Dinosaur?? In Rochester?

They used to sell a vanilla porter to die for...

'bout 3 of those and a pile of brisket made me a very happy person.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Enough of the suspense it was Jake. He now drives a motor coach and he called me the other day and mentioned he'd be in town. He was parked over at the airport so I drove down and picked him up. We went over to a bar I frequent for food. They duplicate the original Big Boy burger and since there aren't any here any more I stop in there every now and then. He only had an hour so we were rushed a bit. Regardless what some of you think about him he's a pretty good kid. We had a nice little chat and I got him back to his bus so he could head for home.

The nearest "sea" to you is over a 1000 miles away. Lake food? OK all day long. Some nice pike chunks or Walleye??? yum. Seafood (Shrimp, oyster, salt water fish) in Milwaukee is like buying oysters in South Dakota..... Nope, sorry.

Well I'll tell you what I had some crab cakes from the Maryland Crab Company. Those 4 little crab cakes I had delivered for $65 didn't impress me one bit.

I lived there for three years. I lived on garbage plates, but would treat myself to Dinosaur at least twice a month.[8D]

Nothing beats a Maryland Crab Cake, but you don't order them from any "company". You get a woman from the Eastern Shore to make you crab cakes.[:p][;)]

Armilite, next time, take a wander over to the fishing forum. There is a thread there that is all recipes. First or second on that list is a recipe for crab/fish cakes. You can use store bought crabmeat or fresh caught fish. For $65 I could make about 4 dozen probably. Take a look[:)]

I always have crab meat in the fridge that I get from a restaurant food/restaurant supply store along with crawfish and shrimp. I usually mix all 3 together with some mayo, onions and green pepper and seasonings. I spread it on french bread along with some provolone cheese and stick in the oven for 15 minutes. I serve it open face and its quite good.

On the flip side I watch and save all the John Besh cooking shows so I get the New Orleans side of preparing crab. I also watch all the other cooking shows that cover all the seafood from Maine to Florida. I've heard all the stories about the crab from Maryland and my daughter must have taken notice and she gave me a gift certificate from Maryland Crab Co. The $50 certificate didn't even cover the cost of 4 crab cakes and shipping. When they arrived I was really depressed about the size of them. I had not even ordered the smallest size. I cooked them up and I expected a lot more then I got.

I imagine that fresh caught seafood is probably the way to go, but I have to deal with it as best I can.

I think you need to stop back and check out the Milwaukee Market downtown. They get seafood flown in every day as fresh as any where else. What about river and pond food ???
