In the spirit of giving (FREE STUFF)

Well, I've been moved by the spirit of giving that seems to have come over this board so I figured I'd give something away while cleaning out the closets before winter hits. Ya gotta do it before winter hits because I'm not making any unnecessary trips after the snow starts flying (unless it's to a gun show).

I have a Lee Anniversary Kit that has never been opened. It's been sitting in the closet for almost a year now. I bought it and then my buddy moved away. He and I were going to get into the hobby together and I have a rather smallish apartment and I don't really feel like setting up a bench in my bedroom or my living room. I will open up the floor for the next seven days. There are two stipulations though. #1 You have to email me your request. #2 You are on your honor to give me your word that you aren't asking for it with the intent to sell it. I would like to give it to someone here on GB who intends to put it to personal use. When the time is right I plan to purchase something different for myself. Requests will be accepted until midnight (Central Time) on the evening of Wednesday October 2nd. I'll find a unique and quite random means of picking the winner.

I will pay all shipping and handling fees and will make delivery sometime in October when I get to shipping a few other things as well.

idsman75@peoplepc.com

P.S. I will be the acting Station Commander for the next six weeks so don't hold it against me if I don't get around to shipping it until mid-late October. Thanks.

The "spirit" of some of the people here makes you sit back and smile. I am not interested in the item you are giving away (no time) but in the interest of those who might not know what it is, could you describe it a little more? Just a thought. P.S. When it is over let us know the unique way of picking the winner.

To those that have voiced an opinion via email....

The vast majority of those who have responded are brand new to the reloading scene or are looking to get into it. The way the odds are stacked, a newbie is probably going to get his hands on it.

I am open to suggestions for a unique but random (i.e. "fair") way of going about this. I thought about printing up the emails, wadding them up into balls and tossing them into the air in my new lady friend's apartment. The one that her cat jumps after and plays with first is the winner. I will pre-text this by noting that a few very close friends (and one former supervisor) have also indicated interest. Those that know me will also know that I will conduct this in a very fair and impartial manner but all names will be included--even those of close friends. In hindsight (to those of you who have voiced concern/opinion) I would have opened the floor simply to those that have indicated interest in finding an inexpensive way to get into the reloading scene. I posted the stipulations and going back on my word would be wrong so I will leave everything as-is.

Holy Moley! It looks like the Lee Anniversary Kit has doubled in price ?!?! I just checked out their website so that I could post the link. I think I paid $50 for it at Cabelas in Owatonna, MN last Thanksgiving.

    Here's the link:

When I was a kid the ads in the comics for mail order products often had the famous, or infamous, "mystery gift box." You paid a small price for it, and you got a surprise of indeterminate value.

We could all send a mystery gift to anyone generous enough to do what idsman is doing, and his mailbox would fill up with little useful "gift stuff" in reward of his generosity. The thought, far more than the meager price, of course, would be the point of a dozen or two little gifties. I know he doesn't require that, but it would be just as much fun to do that as his giving away the item must be.

If I win I plan on sending something back of value back that I have no use for. It only seems fair.

Also I would like to buy something like a complete series of Civil War Videos and send them to some one on this board, and when they are done watching them, they send them to some one else on this board. Your cost would be Postage to ship them to the next person.
