On how to handel and stop a problem at my beloved Trap Range, Some new shooters that are wealthy started comeing out about a Mo. ago on wendsday nights and are Drinking booze and shooting, our Officers have not said any thing to them, I dont like mixing booze and guns. And am afraid to be around them. I know our Insurance will be no good if any thing happens, and out club will be gone, It's been their sence 1930. And of course the Biggie is that some one may be hurt or kilt. I am sure that if we P.O. them off they wil buy the club and burn it down. I am not going out on wendsday night any more so only get to shoot on Sat. mornings, So I am P.O WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO.

Chuck, you have to stand your ground when it comes to safety. As for fear the rich guys will buy the club and burn it doe=wn if PO'd, your loosing it now by their actions. Rally the good members and approch the board to take action. If they don't take whatever action your constitution and bylaws allow to remove the board and take control. Good can no longer stand on the sidelines and watch evil prevail. Its ruining every faction of our country, and the shooting sports. Make a stand. Jim

Like most clubs, they generally have officers and a board of directors, meetings, and some kind of rules or bylaws. Find out what the rules are, address the next meeting about your concerns. Firearms and alcohol are a ticking time bomb....should be some others that share your concerns. Good luck.

Why don't you just make a little phone call to the local law enforcement agency and alert them to the drinking problem. There may be an ordanance against drinking in public, or once they get in their vehicles to leave, I know they would be interested in getting drunk drivers off the road!! Never could understand why people drink and use guns. That spoils it for the rest of us. Regards Dave

Check the State Laws. They could be in violation of a law that would be considered misuse of a firearm while consuming alcoholic beverages.

Are you kidding me? Who would be careless enough to drink and then start shooting a gun around?! Have they no respect for their lives or the lives of others?! This really makes me angry. I hope that you are able to get this situation under control ASAP. I still have yet to go shooting for the first time and I hope that these individuals are there when I finally go. Good luck my friend!

Endangering the public safety is a pretty broad charge that could and should be applied in this case.Have a plain clothes come on Wed. night and arrest their sorry butts.

I agree with what's allready mentioned.

Run up some of the good people in the club asking it to be a rule - No drinking before or during the shooting.

Some rich prick might think they know what they do - can afford to do it the way they want and people usually let them, because they come back.

Better kick them out or straighten them up.
Guns and safety is of the essence in a public club.
Guns, safety and alchohol doesn't mix - anywhere.! (other than in a good John Wayne movie!! but that doesn't count.)

Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.

When they have had a few drinks get out a video camera and start taping them and let them see. One of the will point there shotgun at you, I would almost bet on it, Or not let them see you and take the tape to the police.

Buy a police siren from JC Whitney. Mount it on your truck.

Get a flashing blue light, magnetic-that plugs in your cigarette lighter...so you can throw it on your roof quick....

Let the guys get all liquored up and shoot again. Follow them out of the range and set off the siren about a mile down the road with the light on your roof.

It would work better if you had a PA hooked up to your CB right about now.....

Play with them...Ask them to get out of their car and place their hands on the roof of their car, because you know they are drunk and have firearms.

Get your buddy to jump out the passenger side of the truck with a Mossberg aimed at them. Go up to them and say your placing them under arrest. Use those $10 handcuffs you bought from U.S. Cavalry.
Take their firearms back to your truck. Tell them you are going to have them sit in their vehicle with the handcuffs until a patrol car shows up.

    Drive away.

Call up the President of the Club and speak to them. The range officers in charge are not doing their jobs. After the Prez addresses the issue the range officers will either do their job or be relieved of the duties. Calling the local law enforcement is not a good idea. The club then will have a record and that is not good. It can be handled internally and taken care of.

Do not accept this behavior. Report it and demand action immediately. Or.... just wait them out, they're bound to kill one of themselves soon enough.

As others have stated call the police, after they get drunk, get into ther cars to go home. Be sure you tell the police exactly what road they are on as well as give the police the Lic. numbers. After a few fines you will have no problems. That is my opinion and what I would do.[}:)] Also talk to the club President. I would not take my kids to the range while that is going on!

Why such a reasoned response? You forgot to shoot out their tires.

I am a member of Adams Conservation Club inc.in Holland,Ohio.
The range rules are specific and enforced-No alcohol and no drugs!
If someone gets caught under the influence while firing a weapon he will go before the board. Those who have seldom show up for their hearing- The outcome is generally the loss of their membership. each member is given certain policing powers. If there are no range officers or board members availble to handle any negative situation then we call the leos to rectify the problem.

I have never seen this done before because you will have about a 90% chance of the guy shooting next to you will be a state, local or federal leo so no one will B.S. around.

Buy a Ruger 10/22, go 100 yards out and shoot the beer cans as they bring them out of the cooler. Rugers are so accurate there shouldn't be any danger in missing and hurting somebody. [:D] [:D] [8D]
