I'm waiting for three guns to be delievered so I figured I better not spend to much money at the Gun Show. I took $60. and 5 aftermarket 15 round Ruger mags, 1 30 round Ruger aftermarket mag and a S&W Sigma 9mm mag that I bought for $5. a month ago.

The first deal I made was for a plastic 45cal. ammo holder for $1. two tables up had the same thing for $2.

The second deal was for the mag at the top of the page. I asked if it was aftermarket at $30. dollars, they said "yes if it was factory it would go for $90." I asked if they would give me a break for it being after market. They gave me $5. off. Let the seller beware. This is a second generation factory mag I bought for $25.

Third deal is the center of the picture. 3 AK47 mags bolted together solidly. 1 chinese and two Hungarian. I asked him what it goes for out of curiosity. The old man told me $30. SNATCH! Other dealers guessed that I paid over $100. for it. The clamp appears to be factory made from somewhere.

Fourth deal, dealer gave me $55. for five 15 round mags. Gives me a 10 round Pachmyer 45cal mag(right side of pic) for my 30 round Ruger mag. And then gives me a AK47 mag (in pic)for the S&W sigma mag.

Fifth deal, I go to the dealer right next to the last dealer. I asked how much for the mags on the table, he told me they were Berretta mags and had to get $20. a piece for them. I offered him $35. for the pair and he agreed. They are factory first generation Ruger mags.

I walked out of there like the cat that ate the Canary. I'm afraid to show my face there tomorrow. I want to get rid of a Sword and maybe my Remington 1100 magnum 30 inch ventelated ribbed full choke barrel, dealer said he might go as high as $300. It's in 95% or better condition.

I went there with $60. and junk mags and came home with a Treasure Trove and $28. Not Bad Huh?

The picture was much clearer when I first created it. Sorry.

Yes RugerNiner you did real well.
And aren't gun shows one of the greatest ways to spend a weekend, comparable to Disneyland for a kid.
I have met some of the nicest people and made some close friends with people I first met at a gun show.
But still the "liberals" know that gun shows are the root cause of all evil and need to be banned.
They just don't get it, do they?

    Niner,

I could "rain on your parade" a little with some specifics, but I won't...

You did "OK"--especially if you got rid of stuff you didn't want and got stuff you wanted.

I only consider that I got a great bargain on something, when I know I can convert it back to cash very quickly--that means I bought it way below wholesale and can sell it to a retailer for less than he can buy it wholesale.

    competentone;

You don't think that three 40 round AK47 mags with a bracket that connects all three isn't a good deal for $30. Or three 15 round factory Ruger mags for $20. apiece isn't a good deal? How about a 30 round Ak47 mag for a sigma mag I will never have a use for and paid $5. for? Or a 30 round aftermarket Ruger mag that doesn't accept ball ammo for a Pachmyer 10 round 45cal mag for a Ruger?

I'm a bit leery about 40-round magazines. I've never owned them for any AK/AR style rifle but I've heard that the spring doesn't always maintain uniform tension. I've heard that the first 30 rounds feed great but that the spring loses tension over those last ten. I could be wrong.

    RugerNiner-

I always figure if you walk away feeling like you got a deal, you probably got a deal.

    Good Job.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

    RugerNiner,

I think you did OK--the AK mags were probably the best (at today's current prices). Like I said, if you got what you wanted, you did fine. The point I was going to make, but didn't, was from looking at your pictures (though it can be hard to tell just from a picture) I'm fairly confident that two of the Ruger mags are not actual factory original--if they're good quality aftermarket, $20 isn't bad.

Two of the Ruger Mags have three holes in the back marked 5,10 and 15. These were the first to be used by Ruger.

The other one has four holes in the side, Ruger made these about the time the Hi-cap Ruger P-89 came out.

Right before the law of 1994 Ruger made hi-cap mags with plastic bottoms stamped with the Ruger logo, four holes in the side and 9MM stamped on the side so as not to be confused with the 40cal.

Now we have the 10 round mags.

They are the 4 different mags used by Ruger. I bought a Ruger P-85MKII with the mags that have three holes in the back New 12 years ago.
I also bought a Ruger P-89 NIB with two hi-cap mags that have the four holes in the side.

I search these mags out at every Gunshow. Oh, I also have two new in the package four hole hi-cap mags.
I know what I am looking for. Well at least I'm Happy.
