The Stars and Stripes..Our Flag -- Forever?

Well now, listen up! The wind bent my cheap hollow metal flagpole which I got right after 9-11, yesterday. I had to retrieve my flag and throw its pole away. Headed out to get a new pole. Returning with a new Flag Kit, it only took one look to see my old flag was really very tired, faded, and needing to be replaced. The new one was bright with crispy colors fitting our great nation!

Somehow, I had not noticed this before, but looking around the neighborhood, the other flags on the street seemed to be the same way. We had all forgotten these "wear out." Our street is lined with flags that have flown non-stop since 9-11 and they really show it! I was now glad the wind broke my pole. My new Flag is flying today, proclaiming the greatness of our country.....brightly colored and befitting our Nation's Birthday!

Have you checked your flag? Tired, frayed, faded and ragged? Our Nation deserves a NEW one and maybe, you do too!

Nothing wrong with a fresh flag...It use to be one of my duties at the medical plant to keep an eye on such things. Keep her high!

When 9/11 hapened, I already had a flag, but it was a worn out, tattered relic from a place I use to work. Nevertheless, I flew it form my truck bed til I could get to the flag store (in the wee hours before work) to get a new one. I bought two of the good ones, stitched, not dyed, no BS (Barbara Striesand). I have noted since one of my paste-on flags in the back window of my pickup has faded/cracked, so it needs to be replaced.

Yes, I have noticed most "latter-day" patriots have given up on flying/displaying the flag, since "9/11 happened so long ago!" Rest assured, I am not among them...

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltaire~Secret Select Society Of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

I bought a new one about five years ago and it's still in good shape. I don't leave it out 24/7 like some of my dipsh!t neighbors. I bring it in at night and also in bad weather.

When I went shopping for one, you can't believe the trouble I had finding a flag made in the good ol' USA. Had to hit five or six stores before I found a quality, non-foreign, American Flag. I was back in the same store a few months ago and now all their flags are cheesy, printed, made-in-China rags. I guess nobody but me wanted to pay 30 bucks for a good one.

I guess the reason we can't buy a flag made in the U.S.A. is that we are too busy making flags for China and the other countries, huh? It is a little weird to pick up a new packaged flag with "Made in China" written on it......!

It seems to me that folks are just doing what I did. Fly the flag and days, weeks, months go by....without thinking how faded its becoming. No malice there, just busy trying to live, take the kids to school, work, groceries, doctor's appointments, and so on! But I was really shocked to see how "OLD" my old one had become. It seems the old printed cotton one took a serious beating, but I bought a stitched nylon one this time.....should last better.

Your Local VFW will take your old Flags and Dispose of them Properly. There is a certain way to get rid of an old flag. I think it is folded, a ceremoney held and then Burned.
I could be wrong but it would be the first time in many years.
