When I was a kid with a Remington 722 in .308 a buddy of mine got a brand new Model 70 in 257 Roberts. I always wanted a 257 after that. About 10 yrs ago I came accross a comercial Mauser 7mm at a gunshow for $125.00. The thing was rough and appeared to be a compilation of parts. But, no pitting on the action. I jumped on it thinking it would become a nice custom 257. Well thing being what they are the project never got started. 3 yrs ago when buying my house I sold it to get some extra cash to cover expenses. Sold it for $175.00 and a copy of a book the buyer had written. I was happy until last night. This guys user name leads me to believe he's the guy who bought it. The guy was going to be moving to Wyoming. If you look close you can see where a former owner had sanded finger grooves into the wrist of the stock. I don't want it back, but if I had known it was what he says it is the price would have been much higher. I never said a word about south america though. It came from a dealer in Lancaster, NY and he aquired it in an estate sale in Niagara falls Canada. I wonder how the Canadians are adapting to spanish or portugese.LOL

However, sometimes I get to be the one who knows. But more often, it is like you said. C'est la vie.
