Hunt Quality

Has the quality of your hunting season gotten better or worse in the last 10 years?

I would say that mine have probably gotten a little worse with some of the new regulations that have been put into place. One of my favorite spots used to be up on the Holitna River. It was a 360 mile run by boat one way. Used to be able that we could use any boat we wanted. Now it has a 40 horsepower restriction. So I had to switch to another area. Took a couple of years to get used to that area and now they have started to put restrictions in place for that area that will not allow certain residents and non-residents to hunt there. Looks like fly-in hunts are going to be more enjoyable in the near future. Probably cheaper than using 250 gallons of gas at $2.69 or more a gallon anyhow.

The ony way I can say mine has gotten worse is there are SO many new hunters out there its not all that un-common to be hunting within 20 yards of another hunter.I can see that deer and especially Hogs which have no closed season here have been hunted to the point where you can see a decrease in numbers since I began hunting.Still get some pretty good hunts though but the restrictions do get a little to heavy during certain seasons.Game Wardens have got alot more hardnosed to.

I would say a little better except for the 6 year drought which has reduced deer numbers. Elk are expanding, and we have found some new hunting areas, since the "controlled burn" took out 3,000 acres of the old area. Was out of control 20 minutes after it was started.

20 yards from another hunter? How can you stand it? I occasionally am forced to escort uninvited guests from my property and am currently engaged in a land dispute over 1 corner of my property but other than that I have a hundred acres of mostly wooded land that I allow a few family members and friends to hunt. Its pretty secluded, no towns for miles and even the nearest town is so tiny it doesn't have a single stop light. The quality of my hunting is allways good. I only wish they would recend the stinking blaze orange law. I hate the stuff.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

That 20 yards is at a camp I belong to it has gotten hard to hunt my land because the surrounding owner died and his a-hole son came and fenced the border with atleast a 7 foot fence when the old timer was still alive he just had a single roll of chicken wire and one line of barb above it.That leaves one corner where Deer can get into my property and me and the owner over there get along but me and the guy who put up the fence about came to blows a couple weeks ago about the insane size of that fence but its his fence on his property so there isnt much I can do but whip his *.Up at the camp the owner is a bit greedy and wants your money so he takes in as many hunters as he can.I have been camped out behind a log before and looked up in the tree about 20 or so yards and there is some dude who fell asleep in his stand I even had one try to get one of my bucks one time because I went for my 4 wheeler to ride him back I return to drag him out and heres some s.o.b trying to make off with my kill he got moving pretty quick and left the Deer with me hauling up on him.Its very common up there to be close enough to hear them snore when they dose in there stands mostly I stalk so I just ease on out and try to find a more secluded area but sometimes its impossible.Im trying to find a new camp now to join up with and me and my other land neighbor will be hunting his land soon because it opens up to 200 acres that has no fence,he knows the man so he doesnt care if we trickle over on his side.It would be nice to hunt my own damn land though.Ill figure out a way to get around it even if I have to trap some game and relocate a couple to my side.
