I love these threads, so I'll start another. :)

My next guns are:

Glock 30 (picking it up next week! Woohoo!)

Either an Uzi, or a Mac.....something full auto, under $3k. Any suggestions?

Some sort of Shotgun.......12 ga. I don't have anything but a really really old decrepit one right now......afraid to fire it.

M1 Garand! Looks very, very cool.

A .50 Caliber..............wooooooot!

Merc

NO! You may not have my guns! Now go crawl back into your hole!

I'm getting my dad one of those Taurus Gallery guns for fathers day. I figure I'll leave it on his office desk with a little plinker and a brick of shells.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Armalite AR-10T...gonna take some saving though...probably use income tax refund to do it.

Only the strong survive...well maybe also some weak ones with lots of ammo!

I'm still trying to find the 25-06 rifle that I want, just havent found one to suit me on the auction sites as of yet. Of course, if I could just find a barrel for my Savage, I could convert it in a hearbeat, and be done with it.

    Merc --
Suggestions: I'd much rather have an Uzi than a Mac, but you'll be lucky to find good full auto at $3000 because the Uzi carbine with folding stock probably starts around $3200, maybe $3300, in my region. The mini-carbines are much more expensive, by up to a thousand dollars, so I'd say go for the classic "Secret Service" Uzi carbine with folder and expect to pay around $3300. Frankly, if I could get a .45 rather than a 9mm I certainly would, but that's my personal preference. They're harder to find, no doubt.

Savage 7mm-08 youth bolt action for my 10 yr old son. In a few weeks.
Any suggestions on ammo for him? Whitetail deer 100-220 lbs. Close to 200 yds. If he can group at that range.......

At the moment I'm in the stupid situation of being over-qualified for most of the few writing or computer tech jobs I'm qualified for in Fort Wayne, so I'm essentially self employed, building web sites. My Pentium 4 is literally loaded with the best software: Dreamweaver, Director, Fireworks, Illustrator 10, Feehand 10, Quicken Business, Quickbooks Pro, Photoshop, Premiere, plus a ton of other video editing and audio editing software. I have 2 vidcams that input to the computer and am a trained photographer. I have a CD burner and can make PDFs. I have InDesign AND Quark Express. There's almost nothing I can't do, quickly and cheaply. So of course -- I'm out of work.

This cuts into my wish list. However, I'm looking hard at H&K right now, and having just seen the Land Warrior documentary on TV I realize the tactical wave of the future is the carbine in some form, right now the M4 and the HK G36 being the favorites. So I'm thinking it would be nice to have a CAR or possibly HK USC or MP10. Some day I'm going to have another Uzi carbine too.

I also have my sights set on SOME kind of .308 carbine sooner or later. Maybe A CAR length AR-10. I have enough handguns at the moment, though that's a relative concept. Right now I'm making sure my current crop of handguns is fully supplied with accessories and ammo. But first, my dog needs booster shots and my car's 'check engine' light came on this week. And the car insurance bill showed up.

Just sent the money off for a Mosin. Bidding on another one.

Other than that I'm passing on rifles right now (I rarely do handguns so I don't mind not buying those). Got to do some other stuff (like more ammo - though no more scopes, got plenty now).

Coonass - haven't really shot my Remington 7mm-08 enough to give you advice on what ammo to use. Though if your son is going to be shooting dear (white tails are the small deer right?) make sure it's got enough punch behind it to do the job even at that short of a distance.

I'm thinking of a Wilson UT-15 I saw in the June 2002 issue of Guns and Ammo. Never shot a Wilson but heard nothing but good things from them. Or a Glock 30, cause I still need a .45, or a S&W SW99.

Prokote, I am curious why you bought a field grade AR-10B if you want the accuracy associated with a target gun like a M1A National Match. Why not buy a target-grade AR-10 in the first place?

    Shootist,
DONT DO IT!!! I've got one of those guns, and it sucks! I dont know what the manufacturer was thinking when they made this one. The barrels are so poorly regulated that I could never get mine to shoot to the same point of impact with even 2 of the barrels, never mind all four!! Talk about poor quality control.

I'd like to get a nice .22 target rifle + scope. Unfortunately, I'm looking at some big bills and worse ones coming up soon. Maybe I can save my lunch money for a year and get something in 2003.

I've really been wanting a Savage Super Striker in .223 with the laminate stock. I don't know now. So many things have been tempting my eyes. Maybe I'll just save up for a Kimber....or a Springfield. Heck, I'll just buy a Colt and be done with it.

Ryan, Actually, I was plannig on designing an IPSC Match where there are 4 targets, requiring 1 hit each, Comstock count.
But, you did get me thinking. If you loaded each barrel with a different weight bullet and then shot Hollywood style (sideways), I bet you could find a combo that would shoot close to the same point of aim.

I did a quick search on the HK Mark 23 and found that the .45 caliber, 2 1/2 lb. baby goes for two grand, more than the HK USC carbine by $900 or so. I then did a search on the USP Compact, which weighs almost a pound less than the 23, and found it is competitively priced with other popular handguns. Oh well, what would I do with a 40 ounce handgun anyway...

Have had on special order a stainless Blackhawk Convertable 9mm/.357 6.5", the factory said they are making a short run. If not here by end of June will be getting a S&W #29 5.5" .44 mag.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.
