I watched dog the bounty hunter last nightis he for real.Does he really dress like Rambo, does he really take his wife on busts with when she is wearing 6in stilleto heels,or is this another program like American chopper where most of it is contrived for the camera.

Yep. A put on for your viewing pleasure........for at least part of it.
"Dog" is an ID10T full-time. I met him in 98'-or 99, when I was a bounty hunter. The guy is a goofball, back then, he didn't "hunt" bounties, he did "Pickups". The difference is that Most BEA's (Bail Enforcement Agents, do the legwork involved to trace a "Skip", wherever they are, sometimes these means are ileegal, but effective, it also take a bit of finesse to find a "Judas", or someone to roll on the mark.

Dawg, he would wait by the phone for the bondsman to tell him where the guy is, and when he'll be home.

FWIW-Anyone who hunts bounties without a firearm is NUTS. I never discharged mine in over 75 apprehensions, but I've pulled guns, dope, knives-you name it, off of guys I've arrested.

Dawg's other half, as I recall, wasn't too bright, kinda dim actually, and was around for window dressing most of the time, someone to run the front office. I never thought much of either of them, but look at 'em now.

My opinion only...One more so called "Reality" show. They are beginning to come out my ears, make me puke, turn me into a movie junkie..How much can we stand? I saw an ad on TV for one that was a contest to see how long a person could press their nose to a dogs rear..Honest to God..It was on one of the networks, but I can't remember the title. How damn much will we take? How far have we gone down the drain?? Is there anything left worth saving, or should we just toss it in? There are shows now to trade houses, trade wives, trade lives, shows for queers to dress hetros, hetros to dress queers, both to redecorate each others houses and offices, set up dates, accept or throw away each other, live on desert islands and fight and screw each other, what the he** is left?? What happened to REAL reality, real life, why do we need the country coming into our bedrooms on TV? The networks show this kind of crap because it makes money for them. Why does it make money? Because our civilization wants it, cries for it, buys it. What kind of life have we built? What kind of future have we prepared for our children and grandchildren? Is that what reality is?? If so, then it's useless and should no doubt be destroyed. Is that what's coming? Any historians remember the Roman Empire and how it ended? Seem familiar? Anyone have suggestions on how to correct it, or at least improve it?

Bounty hunters are BS, and shows about bounty hunters are BS. I am inclined to believe they don't exist, but maybe they should.

Around here, if a bondsman gets hinky about one of his customers, he goes to the court and asks to be taken off the bond. The court issues a bond revokation order and a warrant of arrest. Then it is up to the cops to arrest the guy.

Again, I say BS. We got him the first time, Mr. Bail Bondsman. Now it's your turn.

Were I the judge, I would tell the bondsman, "Ok, I'll release you from the bond, just as soon as you produce his body in this court."

Nunn ,I did it for a few years ,I was a bond agent ,and I did all the bounty hunting for the agents in five counties

The police will not revoke a bond ,they will only make an arrest if there has been a warrant issued ,usually they are not aware of all warrants issued ,they happen across the person by mistake or chance ,in the mean time the second court date if the person is not in custody the bondsman forfeits the entire amount of the bond , this is why they bounty hunt them to avoid paying the bond

    Example

Joe blow was arrested for drug possession ,his bond is one thousand dollars ,he calls a bond agent ,he pays the bond agent usually ten percent ,the bond agent puts up a surety bond to guarantee the one thousand dollars to the court

Joe blow misses first court date ,warrant is issued ,but the only way a police officer is notified is when they run them on the computer

Mean time if joe blow misses second court date {varies from court to court this is an example} the bond agent must forfeit the entire amount of one thousand dollars to the court ,or surrender the defendant

Some bond agents use a surety company which they pay a high percentage to ,then must actually pay any loss ,a agency may become their own surety agent if they can put one hundred thousand dollars into an escrow account

Some police agencies will do your job for you if there is a warrant ,but there are other circumstances that you must revoke a bond , they do not contact you if agreed to do so {weekly/monthly check in},moved ,lost job ,got arrested again ,and are now a higher risk ,they didn't have the full amount agreed to pay ,and have not paid it

I have met some really good police agencies ,that where glad to help as keepers of the peace ,some not ,I had a few that let me in their computers to do as I please ,but most of the time they know the person and where they can be found ,and if they had a warrant ,they had no ideal they did ,and now will be more than eager to help

    I have traveled several thousand miles to get a person ,found them hiding in houses under sinks ,in closets ,under beds{women are the worst},and have had to result to arresting them at work ,not once have I ever had to use force or ever had one get violent ,because there are ways to do it correctly ,I have contacted over a dozen on the telephone ,and let them know I was coming to get them {only because I really couldn't find them} ,and talked them into turning them selves in {the term bounty hunter scared them}

Most skips biggest mistake is their references ,their friends and relatives are usually more than willing to turn them in ,I once bought a lady a bag of dog food to turn in her brother {no lie}, I could write a book on the crap I have seen through bounty hunting

Bail Bonds here work like this,if the suject isnt picked up eventualy and they usually are the amount of the Bond would be forfeited to the Court and the Bondsmen usually takes collateral in excess of the Bond amount. Most Bondsmen I know are professional and have trained Agents who work for them and do their pickups along with them if they have the time. When a Bondsmen Bails someone out he stands as the Surety for the amount of the Bond set that the person will appear in Court. The ones I know are required to have Insurance company's to back them up for the money, and they wont stay with a Bondsmen if he loses them much money. Here the Insurance company gets 20% of the money from the Bond.If the person does not appear in Court they will issue a Show Cause on the Bondsmen to appear before the Judge and a Capias for the subjects arrest. If the Bondsmen does not apprehend the subject before the Court date of the Show Cause, the Bondsmen will ask for a 90 day continuence.Ive never known a Judge to turn a reputable Bondsmen down on the continuence to apprehend the suspect, even if two or three are ask for.If at any time the Bondsmen wish's to go off the Bond for any reason he can go to the Clerk of Courts Office and get a Capias for the subjects arrest and make the arrest himself or if a LEO comes upon the subject when he runs him through NCIC it will show up as him haveing a warrant and he will take the subject in.As to the Rambo look if I were wanting to go to work for a Bondsmen I would not walk into his Office wih that type appearence.Because you probably wont be getting any work from him.A Bail Bondsmen pretty much owns you until you are off his Bond and has more authority than we as LEO's do.

Just another scripted "reality" show.Kaka de Vaca island style. You'd think a convicted felon couldn't be a bail enforcement agent, but it does explain the lack of a firearm.
