Organized gang rape?

This morning I saw something that I've never seen before!

I roosted what I figured was about a dozen toms and 4 hens last night. This morning I set up in the corner of a small woodlot with a double cattle fence line, I was in the fence so I could see both fields.

Gobbleing started at 6 oclock and continued for about 15 min. before three toms flew down into one field about 150 yards away. All three were about the same size 7-8 in. Then the hens flew down almost at my feet; way to cool! Then the other toms flew down in the woods, and the hens all but one went to them. The other stayed in the fencline just in the woods. The first 3 only stared at my decoy but wouldn't approach them.

After much coaxing and fighting the last hen for dominance the deep thunder came in and bread her just out of range and left, or did he? I thought I saw some action in the brush but wasn't sure.

After a short break the gobbleing went out to a small pine plantation thats very thick so I worked up to the edge of it, just as i got their a hen started in cackling about 75 yards ahead in another wide fence line, the toms went into stealth mode! Seconds later I saw 3 or 4 jakes run up to the hen and surround her practically and just start looking in all directions but doing nothing to her! Then five nice toms all about 7 to 9 inch class went up to the hen and tried to ruff the old girl up a bit.

Then 3 huge toms showed up and the other birds backed off and the sultan did his thing, before the hen could get up another big sultan did his, then the other good toms tried. I think two of them succeeded! Once the hen got up the party was over and off the toms went in their perspective groups to the next hen several hundred yards away.

I circled around kinda in front of them but not in range before the jakes showed up again. The same scenario played out with what I think was the biggest tom again and the others following suit till the hen fought free again. It looked like the 7-9 inch toms were almost standing on the hens wings to hold her down for the other toms then they got a chance. The biggest one was always first, and all stayed back till he was done.

It looked like a organized gang rape! I watched it 3 times before I was almost disgusted with the mob like gangsters.

I'll be back after the sultan or one of the big three next weekend! Wish me luck they got a good racket going and its going to be hard to infiltrate the ranks without being noticed!

Animal porn... A little bored are we?

Sorry, just teasing ya! That is very interesting behaviour to see. Are the roosters normally that aggressive or was that a one time thing?

You are right, ima, it is interesting to see how it parallels human behavior. It kinda makes you wonder though, were their motives similar to humans? Did it have nay effect on the hens involved?

LOOK PEOPLE! I KNOW WE'RE TALKING ABOUT CHICKENS SO EASY ON THE DUMB WISECRACKS!!!

Anyhow, I know a few people that has happened to, so just to be safe, I would have had to fire up the grill... On my farm, I'd be judge, jury and executioner. You know, my own little justice.

My gun is prettier than yours, and it's a Glock!

    Remember, it wasn't sex.
It was all about insecure males' power and control!

Those Toms should be put in pen with some jive talking ostriches who wil make them their "biddies" so they'll know how it feels.

The hens will require counseling for life and be featured on all the daytime cluck shows.

The hatchlings wil grow up as juvenile delinquents with learning disorders, they'll never amount to nuthin'.

Next time just shoot the whole lot of them and save our tax dollars.
We must break the cycle of abuse!

I was talking about wild turkeys, not chickens, and if I could have I would have shot at least one of the ring leaders! The Ostriches might work if only I can borrow the DNR's trapping net for a day or two. Talk about poetic justice huh!

I believe that next weekend I'll be on a mission from God to purify the turkey population of this scurge of riff-raff.

As far as the hens are concerned; they looked like any human female being raped; not good after the third time. It was actually very displeasing to watch, and ticks me off to re-play the scene over in my mind! And I'm a hardcore turkey hunter!

Guess I'll have to do something about it. The thugs were in my Great Grandma's woods so I've named them the "Deckervill Gang"... From what I witnessed they are far more notorious than the Purple Gang from Detroit Mich and the Chicago mob bosses could all learn from these hardened criminals.
