BlackRoses...thanks...that was really nice.After my divorce,both my son and my step-son stayed with me.It has not always been a bed of roses,but I wouldn't have had it any other way.I love both those boys and did my best to raise them.They turned out alright,in spite of my battles with alcohol.And when I sought help,they supported me all the way.Watching them grow from boys to men was probably the best thing in my life so far.Again,thanks!!

Thank you Rose.. I'm a dad and a stepdad. I have three biological daughters who are doing well, but my stepson, who I loved very much, was killed by his girlfriend several years ago. She used a shotgun that I bought for him on his birthday. I live with the pain, but I have many pleasant memories of our hunting and fishing trips, and all the loving things he did for me and with me.

There are no bad guns, only bad people.

oldgunner, i am sorry for your loss i just lost my step-dad about 3 weeks ago {he was 49 and just dropped over dead after getting out of bed} fortunetly i have a very good biological father as well. regards, jason

Thanks, BlackRoses. And my sympathies, as well. It's the toughest job I've ever undertaken and I know I haven't done as well as I would have liked. But certainly it is the best thing that ever happened to me, also. From what you've written over the past month, I'd say yours did pretty well.

Thank you Jason..My condolences for the loss of your step dad, and remember to treat your dad with kindness and make him proud. Life is short(It really is, not just a platitude), and we all need to do our best to make others feel needed and important while we can. When my time comes to leave, my greatest desire is to be able to feel I contributed to the world instead of taking from it. So far I believe things are about equal.
