Did Ruger make the Flat loading gate guns at the sametime as the round? Or did the round come after the flat? I just purchased a Flat loading gate made in 56. Any idea why they made it that way?

Bought on old ruger single six 22 LR only. Was wondering about the recall to install the transfer bar. Does anyone know how it will affect the value if I have this done?

I know there is a single six deluxe model with laminated handle and a rear sight, but can you get the regular single six with a rear sight or can it be added aftermarket?

I am on vacation this week and took off this afternoon and headed to the range. I have a Ruger Single Six that get shot often, usually by one of my sons. I set it up to shoot .22 Mags and was pleasently surprised to discover how accurate it is. It nothing to brag about in .22 LR, but I was able to shoot sub 2" groups at 25 yards, standing in .22 Mag.Is this similar to other's experience out there ?Great day overall at the range, not another soul around the whole 2 hours I was there. Shot a couple of my .45's and .44 Mags...IF only I could make a living shooting...

I was thinking about picking up a Ruger Single Six convertible. I have several questions for those of you with answers:

    1. What is the preferred barrel length for most of you who own this gun...4 5/8" or 5 1/2" or 6 1/2" and why?

    2. Prefer stainless or blued and why?

    3. Is it really that important for you to have a three screw versus a two screw? What about the warning on the barrel?

    4. How much is it for 100 rounds of 22LR versus 22 Mag?

Thanks in advance for your input...I appreciate it!

I own a few rugers and yes they do shoot that well maybe a little better with plenty of pratice. For the money, I believe ruger to be a fine weapon.

i have found the same to be true with my old model single six. i think there must be a slight difference in the barrel to accomodate the magnum. i have a ruger that is not fitted for the magnum cartridge and it shoots the l/r better than the s/six with the two cylinders. CARL

you think it might be because the 22 mag bullet is .002 larger than a LR bullet ?
