This is bad news for hunters. Let's hope it doesn't keep spreading. [:(]

On a side note, humans have contracted similar diseases. See the general Wikipedia article for diseases of this type at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmissible_spongiform_encephalopathy.
Evidently, the human TSEs tend to be cannibalism-related. So don't eat people and you should be fine. [;)]
The deer that die are usually the weak and the does.
I tell you what really caused some noticable damage to our herd: Blue tongue disease. I found quite a few deer dead myself, but nobody talked about it, because it didn't look like "mad cow".

Oh yeah, and I believe that the junk is primarily in the spinal cord. So if it scares you that badly, wave goodbye to butterfly chops off the loin.
Ben who doesn't need a disease to waste away

Thing that scares me isn't the dead ones. It's the one I shoot that has a rotted-out brain which scares me.
Shoot-em just above and centered between the eyes, and you'll never know what condition there brain is was in [:D]
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
