We ended up going up near Springer in Colfax County next weekend - where are your tags?

NE of Springer, on two ranches between Springer and Clayton. There is a turn off N between mile markers 23 and 24 E. of Springer where there are a couple of covered pic nic tables and a historical marker. We turn North there. Got a meet in mind?

We're staying at the Brown Hotel in Springer, hunting over near Farley, if you know where that is.

Just for giggles, we spent our lunch hour cutting out some refrigerator boxes to make silhouette decoys.

One of our guys has never hunted antelope, is taking his 22-250 WITH OPEN SIGHTS, NO SCOPE. We suspect he'll fill the role of videographer/ entertainment/ designated driver.

If it works out, I'm going to try to take one with the AR just to stir things up on the board.

We're leaving Vegas Thur after work, got some business in ABQ Fri morning and then want to spend Fri afternoon looking over the ranch, as we've never been there.

We are staying in Raton. Didn't realize the trick is to make the reservation when you apply for the permit, and cancel if you don't get drawn, so a nice morning drive-about 60 miles. Farley is just east of where we will be - around Point of Rocks. You will pass our turn off before you turn north to Farley. We will leave Albuq. Friday afternoon, having already looked at the ranch. There is one male with horns that will likely go 14", but I will try to find a smaller one that is edible. I doubt we will be hunting even 10 miles apart.

The Brown hotel still had rooms on Tuesday; try them. If you're a single we have 2 rooms for 3 guys and we could help you out.

If you like, try my cell 702.378.6899 Friday afternoon (if there's cell service there) and we'll try to hook up.

Also be aware, there's a 40% chance of rain Saturday.

40% sounds way better than sitting in the sun at 90F all day! A fence post is the nearest thing to shade on most of the ranch. Got the cell #.

Yell if you see us on the road - we'll be in a Burgandy-colored GMC Yukon, probably pulling a white utility trailer.

Will do, mine is a teal green GMC Sierra with matching cap. Partner will be in a early 90's white Jeep Cherokee.

    Good Luck!
