I always thought Peanuts was hopelessly naive - and lucky pure incompetence was not grounds for impeachment - during the his disastrous term of office. I honestly believe that he, perhaps even more than Klintoon, bears responsibility for the 9-11 attacks for showing cowardice in the face of the enemy.

And here he is again, playing footsies with one of the last Red dictators. Apparently he still hasn't learned that the world is not populated entirely with people of pure hearts. As a pastor, I have no doubt he would have been one of the best the world has ever seen. Even though I'm an atheist, I admire his religious devotion. But as a politician, much less a statesmen, he makes Neville Chamberlin look like the apex of courage and acumen. All he has done is to provide propaganda footage and a suggestion of legitimacy to one of our worst enemies.

The last I knew, there were laws about private citizens such as Peanuts and Jesse the Extorter interfering in diplomacy. Sure wish these would be enforced!

Yep, if it wasn't for Mr. Peanut, The USA would still be in control of the Panama Canal,(that the USA paid for and built), intead of the communist Chinese. I think Carter has got to go in the books as one of the worst presidents we ever had....

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

I have the feeling he's there unofficially with Dubyas' blessing.
We need another collapsed economy to prop up with American tax dollars.
What has continued to amaze me is the presence of the Guantanimo Naval Base. It also pours lots of bucks into their economy. It would be interesting to see just how much.
I liken it to the U.S. having a naval base in Hamburg, Germany during WW2. Unbelievable!

I have to agree with Iconoclast on his assessement of Mr. Carter in Cuba. His heart is in the right place but it really interferes with his brain. Reminds me of Elmer Fudd.

One other thing to take into consideration is the fact that Cuba used to be a playground for the rich, lots of casinos, clubs and even fancy stores for ladies to shop in. The vultures are merely awaiting the inevitable, Castro's death. (Did you see him being helped up the stairs in one of the video clips?) Once that occurs, American Big Business will swoop in and save the people of Cuba by reviving the Tourist trade. Voila! A new Puerto Rico. A new stop on the Cruise Line schedule. A new Las Vegas. On and On. Don't read this as being negative, I'm not trying to be. Castro's era is over except for the final farewell. After that Cuba will be another American Possession, business will see to that.
