Anyone have pet grape vines?

Last couple of years mine have plenty of vines, but very few grapes. I use 13-13-13 and lime to balance the soil. Readings are fine.

    I killed all my grapevines off. They're highly poisonous to dogs, and I have a dog

    how old are they?

    have you pruned them?

    how did you fertilize them, what type, how far away?

    do you have an actual ph reading ?

    Ph 6.5, pruning every year. I also used some calcium last year. Fertilized about 2 feet from them in a circle about 10 feet wide. Vines are about 6 years old.

    sounds about right 2-4' away, then 8-10'

    have you had good production years prior?

    did you not let them fruit the first few years?

    what variety ? are the self pollinating ? {think less than 1% are not}

    they need full sunlight to promote flower growth, pruning techniques are very important, and if not done properly will result in no flower growth the following year {otherwords its a beech}

    epsom salt and calmag although expensive works great

    Have some been raising for about 13 years. Variable results. They seem to do whatever they want regardless of what I do...

    The birds get more grapes then we do.

    I would not fertilize at all for the coming season. Put them under a bit of stress and your fruit production should increase.

    hobo9650,

    I'm not sure what part of the country you hail from but I can suggest finding your local (or nearly local) Agricultural Extension to get their assistance with your problem. Far too many forget that we taxpayers pay for this service through the public/state colleges. Make use of the service if it is available.

    Here is one of the newer programs which is actually located in a desert:

    https://viticulture.yc.edu/

    This is a rapidly growing field as shown by the enrollment and degree completion data. The tasting room isn't too shabby either![:D]

    Best.
