This was not an AD,...it was a ND. Most so called 'accidents' are not.

Wasn't trying to nitpick your thread, but when gun owners like this one make us all look bad, I think we should call them out for what they are,...irresponsible idiots.

That vendor should not be allowed back.

While I agree with the use of the term ND, I have to lay part of the blame on the show sponsor for not having security check in for the firearms. I know absolutely that the primary responsibility is on the exhibitor but there sure should have been some sort of table check before the show opened. There is simply no excuse for this to have happened. Hell, they check every firearm at SHOT Show before the open and it's huge!

agree, the way the article reads is that they had signs for no loaded guns allowed, but nothing that actually checked all guns at entry.

+1,000,000,000. This happened two years ago at Split Rock Lodge gun show in PA. Not an accident, an idiot with a gun. Yes Marc, they make us all look bad. Oakie

I still like to verify a gun is empty myself. Even if a vendor checks it in front of me I still check it myself. Just a habit I have gotten into. It drives me nuts when some vendors zip tie their actions shut cause I can't verify that the gun is empty.

I open the action and check every single gun I pick up at a show or in a store.

Now if you are at my house be very aware that 99% of the guns here are loaded. Yes they are away from the youngins but I keep them loaded with the actions on longguns partialy open.

it is a weird silence that falls over the crowd when a firearm goes off in a GS,,i was 20 feet from a feller who got it in the shoulder from a 32 pistol

Five or six years ago, I took a couple of AR's to a gun show to sell/trade. The genius at the door ran a ziptie through the magwell and out the ejection port in front of the locked open bolt. Two hours later, a "dealer/vendor" was "inspecting" the carbine and managed to get the bolt to slam closed past the ziptie. The crowd around said "dealer" fell to the floor like wheat in front of the sickle. I just stood there pointing at the guy across the table while he turned crimson and bashfully handed the AR back to me.

Some of the manufacturers might remove the firing pins but most of us just grind the tip off so that there is zero protrusion. Most of the show goers like to run the bolts and pull the trigger...
