....an exercise in hindsight, what gun(s) would you have mortgaged the farm to acquire knowing what you know now......

...for me it would have been some Bren 10's and magazines, Randall 1911's, and some Colt pre-WWII 1911's.....(...aaahhhh...sigh....)

Not that I was alive then, but plenty of Winchester Model 42 Skeets, maybe some Model 12 16 guages in Trap, actually, probably any Pre-'64 Winchester. You're right about the 1911's too. I have no idea what the government was selling used M1 Garands, M1 Carbine, 1903 Springfields, and the likes after the wars, but I'm sure they would have been good investments also. If one had purchased a original 1920's Tommy Gun before the machine gun act, I assume that would be grandfathered, don't know much about Class III laws. Granted, you would be at least in your 90s right now, but you would be having a lot of fun without the need for any licenses!

How about registered F/A sears for HK's and registered F/A trigger packs for AUG's! ... just pennys on the dollar to what they are now! Not to mention the price of the gun themselves! (True it pales in comparison to the appreication Colt has seen with Randall 1911's, and some Colt pre-WWII 1911's ... but I wasn't around to buy them ...

The only bad thing about choosing a Kimber ...
... there are so darn many models to choose from!

I remember the ads for WWII surplus anti-tank rifles. hehehehehe

Didn't one say something about getting that "man-eating jack rabbit on the first hit --- or near miss"?

unfortunatly there's no place here I feel comfortable shooting my .22, much less a serious rifle.

And a tommy gun would be the ultimate cool.

I remember wanting one of those WWII surplus anti-tank rifles. You know, the ones the ads said would "kill that man eating jackrabbit on the first hit --or near miss"

And I would still love to have a Tommy gun for ultimate cool.

I just wish I still had all the ones I've sold/traded.

If I knew then, what I know now.

There's a seller here by the name of "RanierGuns" who has a shop in Tacoma, WA. I stopped by his place several times while stationed at Fort Lewis. I regret not purchasing that U.S. Postal Meter M1 Carbine with matching numbers (and in excellent condition) for the $300 price tag he had attached to it.

A host of weapons before 1968, particularly handguns and especially M1911 / M1911A1s. Maybe I'd rethink my objections to being in Big Brother's database and pick up some MP38s, some early Thompsons, a BAR or three, and a Solothurn 20mm with lots of ammo. Then there was the old dude up north who had a barrel full of 'worthless' M86 & M95 Winchesters in obsolete calibers he would sell you for $10 - $20 a pop. And a few other things, such as strategically placed real estate and certain equity issues . . . .

I wish I had purchased a pickupload of Ruger 10-22 hi-cap mags. The last batch I ordered from Cabellas were $9.95 and they threw in a box of of ammo with each mag. I only bought 20 of 'em, wish I had got 2000. Burmingham Pistol Wholesale had Mac-90's for $650.00 for a bundle of FIVE. I would like to have a semi-load of them. Let's see buy them for $130.00,,sell 'em for $500.00 WOW!

    "Just my opinion."

When I was a kid, right after WWII, guys would take guns to the barber shop on Saturday and sell them. They would put them in a display case they had there for just such activity. I recall war trophy Lugers for $5 and $10...and SSA Colts for $15. If only I had known...
