Redefine Semi-Auto Firearms As; Self Loading, Etc.

Maybe the gun manufacturers can take some of the heat off of themselves and the gun owners by renaming "semi-automatic" firearms with a more politically correct and less scary label?

The term "semi-automatic" seems to get thrown around alot by the politicians and media. They utter it with MUCH emphasis like it is something akin to a machine gun. I wonder how many of the general population can make this distinction, or differentiation between a semi-automatic and automatic firearm? Semi-automatic has become VERY un-PC...as bad as "assault weapon"!

Perhaps "self-loading" would be good replacement name!? Any other suggestions? Seriously!

I may write a letter or two with this suggestion after I think about it awhile and decide it still may be worthwhile.

If you can't beat them, join them! Fight PC with PC! I don't have a problem with "self-loading", "semi-manual", "automatically challenged" or whatever as long as it helps.

Its doubtful it would work at this point...the damage is done and our brains are imprinted with these un-PC labels on guns, but its a thought! [;)]

***I agree, using the word "firearm" instead of "weapon" is a good idea (edited this posting to reflect that)

Also quit referring to them as "weapons." The term "firearms" seems much more PC to the average Joe Sixpack.

knox-- you may be on to something.

I agree....the term "weapon" denotes intent to use in an offensive manner.

Yep! Armies and thugs use weapons. Citizens own firearms.
