For those who gripe about our country!

Merle kinda sums up my feelings about people who love to bash our country, our President, and the wars were involved in! Irregardless of their Political party of choice!
Proud to be an American, glad I live In the best country in the World, even with all our problems!
I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:

Yeah Im sure Ill never hear the end of that one!!!
Wow! Talk about spitting in the face of the prevailing view! You certainly have gone out on a limb with this one!!! Irregardless, few people realize this song was written not by Merle Haggard but King George--to quiet all them bad-mouthing colonial malcontents. It's message is timeless, however.

PS. Fightin' Side of Me has always been one of my favorite Merle songs and I like Merle. It just relays the message I wish I had the talent to say.

I agree with your post and love Merle Haggard.
I'm just glad that we didn't have to listen to you sing it, LOL.

Go, Pa.
It must be right, or we wouldn't do it this way!
It's sad that you can't tell the difference between love of a country and the disastrous policies of an particular administration. [:(]

How you doin'!
And DancesWith Sheep: if I read your post right that is one subtle GOOD ONE that needs to be looked at two or three times to get the full impact. If not, then nevermind.

Hairy and Foxy does this mean your not proud to be an American? All Im saying is Im proud of it, wouldn't want to live any where else! I don't agree with you but I would fight to the death your right to say it!!
I wasn't brought up to be disrespectfull to my superiors, or to my country! I looked up to those who fought in World War 2, Korea, and Nam! I was taught that if I didn't agree with the policys of some I should respectfully do what I could do to change it! I was taught to respect our flag, our country and our leaders no matter what their political status might be!
Just the way it was back then, and personally I think this country would be a lot better off if people still believed that way!

I was taught to respect our flag, our country and our leaders no matter what their political status might be!
I was taught that respect was something that was earned, not something won in an election!
AND, I was taught NEVER to respect a bald faced liar, even one who (theoretically) got more votes than the other liar!!
If the candidates for president were Stalin and Attilla the Hun, I wonder which one I would be expected to support???
Disagreeing with an administration and their destructive policies DOES NOT equate to being un-American!!
Edited for unnecessarily argumentative language. [B)]
