They are not a fire hazard, If you order a case they will send you a video, they hold a blow torch to them and they will not go off! The only thing that will set them off is a blasting cap or a high velocity rifle!! 22 or pistol loads will not set them off.
They are not dangerous until u mix the two ingrediants together, then It is active and you would be wise to set it off!!!!

I've heard about Tannerite targets but never seen them used.
How much are they getting on these?

Sounds like it might be neat to strap one to the back of a
    gas can.

I took one down to the gun shop and we did just that, the owners 10 yearold grandson had the honors of shooting it with his Ruger Mini .223. That darn thing went off and there was a fireball about 50 feet in dia. You could have put a brick in the kids mouth!!! L.O.L and probaly mine too!!!! I bought my last case from Dan Tanner him self it's alot cheaper than dealing with the middleman. His company is called Skylight explosives. I have the phone number here somewhere! He has a nice web site but they changed the address Ill have to see if I can find the new one!

    Pa-

That web address would be real nice, they seem kinda spendy for the amount/what you get from the middleman...

On the other hand I buy a couple of boxes of these from time to time:
    http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=4882680
and they DO touch off from .22LR (pistol and rifle!) I'm sure the BOOM!!! is not as big, but they're still fun!

    Matt-
I've used those before and yep they can be
    lots of fun.

Finding a buddy who'd never heard of these,
then sneaking up and taping one to the back of
his X-ring was always a hoot.

I had me a pack of them exploding targets once. A group of NRA kids were shooting a 25yd .22lr match down the line from me. I had my tackdriving .223 and a target board pasted with them exploding targets down 100yds. Every time I'd pull the trigger..KABOOOOM... After a few shots some kids came over to see what I was shooting. I couldn't resist so I told them they were exploding bullets.... I'm so evil

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

A couple of people mis-understand about these targets. They are NOT the small boxes you tape to a target. These are about 8oz bottles FULL of some cool stuff! :)

Sounds like a stick of dynamite going off........really, really, really cool stuff. I love it.

Which do you think would be a better choice for detonating them, FAST or POWERFUL, ie 22-250, 50gr @3800fps or 30-06 150gr @3000fps ?

Heck - just looking at the numbers, IO guess Id go with the 30-06 ...

Anything bigger than a .22 in a rifle format should do it. Here is a link to a video I made when I shot mine:

.223 does a fine job on these babies, when these half pounders go off it's about three times as loud as my blackpowder cannon!!! They are definatly not the stick on type, and trust me! you want them more than 25 yards away! They use this stuff in a shaped charge for blowing up stumps and large rocks, and trust me it does the job! Check out the website you will see what I mean. Oh and by the way I wouldn't suggest taping them to any type of target stand, that is unless you want a large hole in it! Tie a string on the bottle and hang it from a tree or the perhaps the EXWIFE!!!!!
