UPS nightmare....

Well I've read all the horror stories about UPS' handling of firearms but never had a problem of my own.Well that was until today, bear with me and I'll explain.I sent a S+W model629 .44MAG to Smith to have some work done on the trigger. They had the gun for only a week and then called me to let me know that it was going out UPS NDA on Monday(yesterday). As I waited for my delivery today I started to get an uneasy feeling,my UPS guy is always at my shop with my NDA's by 9:30am,but here it was 10:00AM and no sign of him. Now they have until 10:30 to deliver it so I wasn't panicing, yet, but when 10:30 came and went I got my * on the horn right quick to find out where it was.Sure enough,a replacement driver LEFT IT AT THE FRONT DOOR OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING 2 BLOCKS AWAY.Realizing I had only mere minutes to get to it before it was LONG gone,I quickly closed the shop and hightailed it over there.Thank god as I pulled up to the building what do I see, sitting on the cement steps not 5 feet from the pedestrian public sidewalk but my S+W Model 629.Needless to say my heart skipped a beat (or two) until I actually had it in my hands. After fighting with the morons at UPS over the severity of such a dumb move, all they could come up with was "Sorry, that driver is new". What kind of MORONS do they hire at UPS?Isn't it bad enough that they can't trust their own damn employees not to steal the guns that they make you pay premium shipping for Next Day Air.The address on the package was correct, the label intact, but it was still delivered blocks away. You would think that the ridiculous cost of their NDA service would result in premium handling, but I guess that would be asking too much. Well, alls well that ends well and after the * ripping I gave that driver when he showed up later in the day for my ground pkg's,I don't think he will be missing any more of my pkg's.Thanks for letting me rant and take this well intentioned warning for what it is worth,WHEN EXPECTING YOUR GUNS FROM UPS,WATCH THEM LIKE A HAWK.JOSEY

I suspect sabotage. Nobody is that incompetent. Anti-Gun bias, anyone?

Holy bumbling buffoon Batman! Glad all turned out well. Sounds like it could have been a lawsuit waiting to happen if that gun had ended up in the wrong hands.

Wasn't a signature required? It's too absurd to not only get the wrong address, but to forget the signature too?

Back when I had my license I was expecting a delivery of a BAR and had to leave for an emergency. On the door of the shop I had a permanent sign giving delivery drivers instructions about what to do if I wasn't there to take it back and I would pick it up at the UPS office. I came back to find a big yellow note attached to the sign saying tha your rifle is around the corner in the alley behind the piece of plywood. I was hot and called them up and they basiclly said so what

Twice I had handguns shipped to a "smith" for repair and shipped back to me. Both times when the gun came back the addressee had to sign for them before he even got it out of the truck. My kids couldnt sign, I had to do it. If I wasnt home he would try redalivery or leave instructions to pick it up. I thought that was policy for UPS, must just be for this branch that services this area.
