What do you carry ?

I used to tell customers when I worked in a gun store was "I can give a sidearm no greater endorsement than to carry it"

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

Depends on the time of year, the weather and the situation. At any given time I may be found carrying any of the following:

    Para Ordnance P12-45
    Glock 17
    Glock 26
    Smith & Wesson model 66, 2.5 inch
    Taurus model 85CH, 2 inch

If I'm on a road trip on my bike I'll have one in my jacket (usually the Para or the Glock 26) and another (Glock 17 with big magazine) in my saddlebags.

If I ever get to a state where I can get a permit I'll be carrying one of two guns, either a 9mm Makarov, or a 357 GP100. Just depends on whether or not I feel like toteing the 357, its more of a hip holster gun.

Glock 22 w/ Winchester 180gr JHP, all factory, no mods, factory LEO magazines. And you won't find a spec of dirt in her.

For backup I have a S&W model 60 .38spl, have magsafe ammo in it.

For a backup to my backup, I have a NAA MiniRevolver .22wmr with CCI Rat shot.

Trunk, extra ammo, Colt M4 Carbine with plenty of 62gr SS109 in 30rd magazines.

Also have a shotgun, but its just for show. Winchester Defender 12ga with a Choate stock. 00buck Federal Reduced recoil.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I actually prefer my Winchester 1300 to my Remington 870...I carry a Smith & Wesson model 65. Stainless K frame .357 Magnum with a 3 inch barrel

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

As others have said. It depends on the occasion and your clothing. I usually have a Ruger SP101 but sometimes I carry a NAA 22LR in a fake pager holster. Many laugh at a 22LR but if you conceal it properly and can produce it at a foot or two, the laughing stops. I would love to carry my Mac-10 SMG, but that wouldn't be politicaly correct would it?!

When I discovered I could adapt my Glock 23's pre-ban mags for use in a G27, I sold the G23 and bought the G27. Now I can carry a G27 and a double mag holder for ballast on the opposite side. It's fairly easy to conceal and I have a CCW. I can carry it with 10 rds. and up of quality .40 caliber with two spares.

Then the PT145 caught my eye -- it's virtually the same size as a G27, fits many of the same holsters in fact, and shoots 10 rds. of .45 ACP, so I found myself buying one at a rock bottom $320 price at a recent gun show, where I also traded for a couple extra new mags for it. Then of course I had to have a dual-mag holder for it as well, so now I have the option of a PT145 and dual-mag ballast.

Meanwhile, I picked up an old favorite, a Star PD, ported & jewelled barrel that is a beaut. I still had a black Aker pancake with thumbreak for it (had a PD before) and found a black Aker dual-mag holder for it online too.

So now I have 3 somewhat similar choices for carry with appropriate leather to go with them.

The only wild card is my Bulldog Pug .44 with the pocket hammer, which moves around a lot as my backup/utility piece. Never know where it will turn up. I have grandpa's very nice .32 Mauser 1934 and a IWB for it, but I don't consider it new/reliable enough or a major enough caliber for carry, so it stays home. In fact, the Pug is just as small to drop in a front pocket of tight jeans as the 1934 would be.

As for a full size gun, I've got to get my business running before I have the disposable income for more toys.

You know, my girlfriend tell me that I'm like a girl trying to pick out the right pair of shoe's to wear with her outfit, when I'm trying to decide which gun to carry, and with what rig. Though I have my main duty arm, I usually have alot of trouble trying to decide which rifle to keep in my trunk. Sometimes I like to carry my good ol M1 Carbine, other's its my M4 Carbine, sometimes durring deer season I'll have my tweaked Marlin 336 .30-30win, and then there's my Mini-14. And just wait till my CETME comes in. Oh decisions, decisions...whats a boy to do.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

    leeblackman,
You keep a Colt M4 in your trunk?
I hope your car never gets broken into, I know I couldn't handle that kind of a loss! Whew!

That's true of me as well. If we're counting car trunks, I like my good ol' M1 carbine back there as well, with folding stock & extra mags of softpoint. Comforting, if you need it.

It aint what you carry, or how good you can shoot at targets, its how
you will truely act in RETURNING fire or using it that counts. Few
can, most cant. At least decently. Fear and logic can screw up
a good sight picture till used to it. (if one ever gets used to it)
