What grabs your attention to read or respond to a post?....a leading question....gun topics....or a particular member?

I like reading certain members' posts, particularly BlackRoses, EvilATF (where's he been?), thesupermonkey, 4GodandCountry, leeblackman, Beachmaster, robsguns, will270win, kimberkid and several others. I also enjoy reading about guns that I own or would like to own. I am less interested in religious topics (even though I sometimes participate in them) and those specifically designed to cause online arguments.

I guess it also depends on just how much time I have. If I'm bored I read THEM ALL!!

Always the topic. I do get frustrated at times when the topic is so short and unspecific that you have no idea why you're waiting to load the page, but sometimes I take a chance. I'd like to see more gun topics sometimes, but I'll take what I can get. Sometimes, I have nothing to add on a topic, and I'll just punch the Back button and move on. I suppose I must have a certain amount in common with people here on many topics, or I wouldn't hang around.

If the topic looks like something I would be interested in, I read. If it is anything by Rosie, I read it, he is my friend! Hey Rosie!

I read almost all if I have time, just don't reply.

To read a topic: (not in order of priority)

Position; once it slips off page one, I rarely read it.

Title; a LOT of diversity on what interests me, but the title has to say something that "clicks" somewhere in my brain before I "click".

Author; even if the topic title is "questionable", the author (or name of the last responder) can make me click and read. (I also try to keep half-an-eye open for new names--especially when questions are asked on the "Experts" board--I like to help people with my hobby.) And "yes", Rembrandt, you're on my "little mental list" of "members who have interesting things to say".

Number of responses or number of times read; this is "group curiosity"; I click to read what everyone else is reading or blabbering about.

I respond to a topic when:

    I WANT to say something!
(And have the TIME to say it!)

I sometimes get a little bored with the "rights" topics....while I agree with much of it the positions seem somewhat repetitive.

"This happened to me" threads always catch my attention...curiosity I guess.

The "personal flameing posts" do have some appeal, probably read these for the same reason people go to auto races...to see the crashes. Many clever comebacks and witty comments by the folks here...but I hate to see these get personal and mean spirited. I'd prefer to see the point be made with few words and a little witty humor.

Like Competentone, I also like to help on the experts board whenever possible....have learned far more from others than you'll ever know. Very knowledgeable folks here....

There are a few members whose threads, writings and views fancinate me....without mentioning names (for fear of leaving someone out), they have the ability to make a point with very few words and speak eloquently....

I choose what I'm going to read by the topic and respond if I have an opinion or something to add. Since I'm new I'm just beginning to know who always has interesting posts and will open it no matter what the topic says.

In a majority of cases, I look at the heading; if it piques my interest, I delve further. That interest seems to be rather eclectic. Otherwise, there are a few regulars whose posts I read regardless of the heading . . . and a few whom I ignore entirely.
