Hey I was just on ask the experts and reading the replies in a thread when at the end I noticed the TOPIC IS LOCKED language. Why and who decides to lock a topic on these boards?

Just curious.

i posted and my topic was locked, with no explanation, or who locked it, otherwise i would pm, just to ask why.

there was nothing that could be offensive even to the most thin skinned.

will the person who locked it please tell me why.
    a pm is fine.
i cant even imagine what could have been upsetting.

Just curious because I couldn't find any info on the site.....

What causes a topic to be "locked?"

I guess the subject was rubbing some of the "Chosen" or is it the facts speak for themselves????

Thanks guys, the auction problem was my mistake, Note to NEWBIES read the rules. I'm not new, but I dont bid on alot of items, usually Locust Fork postings. Kasey is the best when in comes to help, see what happens when I get involved in someone elses auction.

I posted a question about my 44-40 in the ask experts forum and it is now locked with no explication why. Did I do something wrong?

Anyway, for those that replied to it, I wanted to thank you for all the help. I learned a lot.

Captain Kirk over at Ask the Experts routinely locks threads after 10 responses. He feels that after 10, the question is adequately answered.

Here, I will lock a thread if I think the topic has been beaten to death, but the information is still valuable.

If a thread deteriorates into arguments and name calling, it gets "poofed," as they say. It disappears.

Also threads and post that contain nasty jokes, gross stuff, bad language, racism, etc.

I think anyone can lock a thread after his post by checking a box.
