I am curious on the 226-229. Are these both da/sa. I was told the pro models 2009-2340 are da/sa with a change over fire control system. Just want to make sure before i make a choice. thought one of you guys out there would know. thanks!

    linetech1,
Most of the 229's and 226's are double action, but I think they are also available with double action only.

I have not seen the DAO option on the 226/229. Not saying it does not exist, but I haven't seen it.

If it is possible to change out the 226/229 to DAO, it will be more difficult than changing out the 2340.

My question is, why change? And why DAO? You give up your option of a SA shot if you need it, and gain nothing in speed.

Smokinggun is right. Most are SA/DA pistols, but you can purchase DA only models. Make sure you fire both before you purchase... I shot a 226 9mm which had almost ZERO recoil, and was quite suprised at the diff when I bought the 229 in 40.

    nunn,
I could be very wrong. I didn't see anything about it on the Sig website so I got the info from my 2002 Gun Buyers Annual. It's a general guide and I don't trust what I read in it 100%.

To me DA only would not make any sense, mainly because Sigs have the smoooothest decocker I have ever felt and you would loose that feature along with the single acion trigger.

the 2340 is a sig "plastic"gun,it shoots good.it is sigs answer to the glock.as far as im concerned it shoots better than any glock.the 226 is a better gun, they all are da/sa.my pick is the p-226
