...waahh....waahh...waahh...."give me a gold medal too!"

Winter Olympics 2002....Can't say I've ever seen such a bunch of spoiled imature cry babies....Why don't we just give everyone a gold medal for showing up, that way no ones self esteem is permanently damaged. Sort of like taking classes without achieving grades....just pass or fail....Kind of reminds me of liberals who can't get initiatives passed in an election, so they go to the courts and attorney's to achieve their goals...sort of like the legal antics of Gore during the Florida election re-counts.Is this what we have to look forward to in future Olympics?...."If I don't get a medal, I'll boycott the closing ceremonies!...waahh...waahh...waahh" Wouldn't be surprised to see this type of whinning and challenges surface in college ranks....or perhaps NFL Superbowl Champs will be decided in a courtroom with instant replay tapes as evidence....

Rembrandt Olympics judging has become so politicized in the last 20 years that the award of any medal does not necessarily go to the champions. It's a sorry state of affairs when a judge allows himself (or herself) to be pressured into voting for an athlete based on country of origin. I believe that we will see more of this as time goes on. If this continues the Olympics will cease to exist. It's a sorry state of affairs and definitely unfair to the athletes.Cry babies? Think again. It isn't cry baby to speak out against injustice.

Smartest thing would be to just bag the whole Olympic idea. Who needs it?

Sorry to say Lowrider is probably right. The Olympics is being perverted into something rotten and soon it won't mean anything to anyone. It certainly has strayed from its intended purpose of national harmony and competitive spirit.

YOU ARE ALL WRONG!!!!! WE NEED THE OLYMPICS!!!!!We need the olympics. It's there to bring commerce and revenue to countries with the most political clout. Besides, how else can we remind the rest of the world that muscule beats brains anytime.

Oh yeah, did anybody see all the pissed off (I hate to use this hyphenated crap) Korean-Americans when they disqualified the Korean skater and gave the gold to the American? All over this country there were citizens of Korean descent crying fowl for the shabby treatment of the Korean skater. None of them were happy about the American skater getting the gold medal.Aparently these Korean folks, even though they live in this country and are citizens of this country, consider themselves Koreans first and Americans second.

Badboy,I think you probably right about the politics...I wonder if we aren't seeing a trend in challenging the outcome of sporting events? Only remember a protest being filed once during the Indy 500 some years ago....outcome wasn't known till a day or so later. Seems the Olympics have the same credibility as Professional Wrestling....."outcomes may be known in advance".....

The two greatest drivers in NASCAR--Dale Earnhardt and any guy that puts Jeff Gordon into the wall.Rembrandt--I had similar thoughts of comparison between the Olympic Medals controversies and the most recent Presidential election. What a joke. I can't win my own fights so I'm going to tell mommy so she can settle the score because you were the one that had his hand in the cookie jar last and I know that she's going to side with me. Waaaaahhh.

When you consider the $,$$$,$$$ the Gold Metal winners are looking at, their "crying" is quite understandable.

Hey....does anybody here actually care about who does what in the Olympics? I mean, c'mon guys..I stumbled upon TV coverage of..ahem..women's curling the other day. I almost landed in the hospital from laughing until I couldn't breathe. I'm watching a bunch of pseudo-chunky housewives from Canada and Wisconsin and Minnesota, out on the ice launching stones with handles and chasing them with brooms while barking these obscure and cryptic phrases to one another...dudes, I pissed myself...Of course then there was the Biathlon..now THAT is a practical competition...skiing and shooting. I'd sign up for the team, but I don't think they allow snowmobiles and AKs....darn...

Us Americans might joke about the signifigance of a sport like curling, but I'm sure the counties that worship a sport like curling they laugh at the idea of.....oh lets say......NASCAR. So its just in yer point of view, I don't believe that one is better than the other. I guess its just where yer from that guides yer perspective on whats true competition and whats not. My favorite sport you ask?.......WWF.
