As one who has enjoyed the mildest winter in recorded history up here in NH, I wish to express my appreciation to all you fellows down South for your efforts to siphon off some of the cold & white crap to help offset your approaching summer heat. I sure do appreciate it; feel free to make this into an annual tradition.

coonassyes the humidity would make it feel colder but you aint seen nothing untill you have felt -30 deg f plus a -80 to -100 deg windchill :-)the guys farther north than me see even worse temps.the coldest i have seen on my digital thermometer is -38deg f below zerosecret to living with these temps is several layers of light clothing instead of one heavy layer.by the way i live in cent S.D. we dont have any trees here to slow up the wind the only thing to stop the wind here is a barbwire fence :-) doc
I dont give my guns without somebody getting hurt!

In the not so distant past, 20-30 degrees was early spring weather hereabouts. I have very vivid memories of me resembling Omar Sharif in "Doctor Zhivago" standing over a sink after work until the ice in my beard thawed enough so I could remove it without removing the hair and several patches of skin. And I know the northern Great Plains states and Alaska have it far worse. I worked outside one day - briefly - as a surveyor when the mercury said negative 32 and the wind allegedly made it somewhere in the vicinity of neg 75 to neg 100. My crew and I decided that was just a little too much. The one nice thing about cold weather is that one can - usually - add clothing. When the heat is in three digits and humidity nearly so, there's only so much one can remove! AC is one of the great inventions in history. Some day, some genius will figure out how to create a system that will allow us to mitigate the seasonal / regional extremes. Probably be less than ideal for the polar bears and mosquitos, but the bipeds ought to enjoy it - this one would!

Sunny San Diego, today was almost 80 Degrees.Went Shooting in the hills Monday and on a motorcycle ride yesterday. Back to work today, but since we had our quarterly firearms quals, it wasn't really like work. Kinda like getting paid to shoot. But we're still stuck with Davis, Boxer and Feinstein.

its about time you southern boys realized what weather really is....too much taking for granted 70-80 degree wether.....usually this time of year up here (north dakota) we are seeing weather in the -10s - 10s, but for some stroke of luck we are in the 30'-40's.... i damn near wore shorts last week....i work in a lumberyard and usually just wear jeans and a teeshirt until it gets below 30, the i have to break out the jacket....but on the flip side, i doubt i could hack it down in the 90s

It has been unseasonably warm here in ND the last couple years. Must be the Global Warming. Humidity sure makes a difference. Went to FT Myers, FL after christmas. Was 35-40 at home and ran around comfortably with no coat. Was 55-60 in FL and froze my A** off. You really get a feel for cold when you get a couple of 50 + days then drop to -40 (wind chill included) a day or so later.[This message has been edited by dakotashooter2 (edited 02-28-2002).]

The scientists are blaming the strange weather on "El Nino'". They say one is building up out in the ocean.

The Wind chill is the bit**, worst I knew it to be that I was out in was -53, I know Ive been is colder, just didnt have a radio to listen BTW if this is global warming, Im going out to shoot airesol cans this weekend

I have been running the N.E., bringing as much of it back each trip as I could haul. I didn't realize my efforts to bring a little firewood weather to Flarda would bleed over to L.A.. Sorry about that. Hope no permanent damage was done. Will quit bringing back cold weather with me, starting next week. Sandman2234
