I'm looking at a really good buy on this rifle but not sure if it's worthwhile. Any opinions or reports on this combination. This has a 20" barrel and walnut stock w/pad. I have win 94s in 357 and 44 mag which work well for play and have knocked over a couple of deer. I know the 454 is a big jump in power but is it accurate enough to extend the range over the 44 mag?

1911a1fan - you've got to open your eyes, then. I have one - Puma
454 Casul/LC and it's got just about the smoothest action of any of
my Marlins or Winchesters. Ever shoot one?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, eh?[:D][:D][:D]

I would suspect that the Rossi might not be as accurate as the Winchester 94. The 92 design is lighter & I believe the barrel is shorter so you are compareing not only cartridges but gun designs as well. That said I have one of the Rossi .454s & am quite pleased with it just as I was with the .357 I used to have.

Thanks for the replies. My Win 94s are the trapper model with 16" barrel. Both are new and are pretty stiff but have worked with every type ammo I put in them. I want to be able to use 45 colt ammo in the Rossi.

I had a PUMA in 454 and it worked great with the 454's but the 45 Colts would not feed reliably. It was accurate, reliable and fun to shoot with the 454's and if I came across one at a good price, I'd buy another.
