I am relatively new to the GB message forums, but I have noticed quite a bit of sniping back and forth between various users. I have also noticed that when someone asks a legitimate question of the board, that person often receives sarcastic, sometimes mean-spirited responses. Many people are new to the shooting sports and are interested in learning, but when they get ripped apart because some "experts" feel they asked a stupid question, they will think twice before posting another question on the boards. I really think that sarcasm and put downs discourage many people from pursuing knowledge. How many times have you been in a gunshop and a customer walks in who doesn't know a thing about guns. He or she is looking for some guidance and instead the gunshop employee will treat a newcomer with disdain and arrogance. We have to encourage new people to join our ranks, not discourage them with sarcasm. As Rodney King asked as he was being pummeled into the sand..."Can't we all just get along"?

yea youre right chris,unfortunetly i have been guilty of being rude once or twice and i am far from an expert, my only thing thing is when a novice shooter jumps in on these boards and starts talking about sniper this sniper that when he doesnt even understand basic marksmanship, for example or the moron who asked if he could get a real MP-5 on GB or go to the "black market" for one. like dennis miller always says "just my opinion i could be wrong"

And how about the young guys who when they make a statement about ballistics that they have NO experiance in, somebody tries to tell them in a polite way where they are off base that young person then gets sarcastic, rude, childish and calls anyone who dares tell him that he may be wrong that they are over the hill and stupid. That same person also smears the US Armed Srevices and will openly call them stupid and belives that since the books say so it's true and anybody that disagrees with him is labled stupid.

Ohh ok!. I try hard to flame without getting Nunn or admin after me but sometimes I let emotion type and I get in trouble. Now I did "take the high road" with him not long ago on another site but if I tell the fellow GB'ers the site and they see it they will lose respect for me in a hurry.On that thread I was in RARE form and said things I do not normaly say where others can see/hear what I said. Put it to you this way, them hardcore Yanks up north of me woulda been proud, heck I bet I coulda made some big burly harley dudes blush on that one!

I didn't mean to give Rodney King any credit, he certainly has proved that he is a world class loser! He won all that money in his lawsuit and yet continues to get locked up on a weekly or monthly basis! What a dope!
And Salzo, that is exactly the kind of response that lacks any type of merit. I have no problem with my self esteem and I am not easily offended...I just treat people civil and expect the same in return. Not too much to ask, is it?
