Favorite Knife Maker

I was wondering which knife most people like. I have more Kershaw knives than anything else.

I carry either a Kobalt utility knife or a Kershaw Onion every day. Depends on what i am doing.

I have 1 Spyderco knife i bought for 25 cent. Its a nice knife just to big for every day carry.

https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C36GCMO/Military-trade-Model-G-10-Camo-/362

To me a Kershaw Onion or Leek is about the perfect size.

I have some small old timers that are nice but they were Christmas presents from my parents and my Dad is dead now and i would hate to lose them so they stay in the safe.[:(]

Favorite was a local knife maker. George Guthrie. Own a handful of his knives. Unfortunately the warranty has expired. They all came with a lifetime guarantee, yours or his, whichever came first.

EDC varies, I have a couple assisted opening Kershaw's including the Leek, a nice Benchmade, a Gerber automatic, and a couple other Gerber and SOG's.

My favorite knife is usually the one I'm carrying in my pocket.

    So many to choose from:

    (old - pre move) Buck
    Case
    Benchmade brand - Emerson CQC7
    Emerson brand - CQC7
    Spyderco
    SwissBuck
    Swiss Army (both brands)
    BOKER (pocket Ceramic)

And the list goes on and one and....

I've also got some original Russell butcher/carving knives, as well as 1/2 dozen Cold Steel high carbon butcher knives.

I'm pretty partial to Henckel knives in the kitchen. I can dismember a whole fryer in a little over 35 seconds with a pre-war carbon blade.

If the field, any old piece of Solingen iron will do.

Ruana in Bonner Montana. Rudy made the knife I took to Vietnam and it saved my life more than once. I've since collected two dozen of the knives he personally made. [^]

+1 on the Kershaws. Pete used to come hunt on a ranch owned by some good friends of mine during deer and elk season. He's one hell of a fine gentleman and built quite a company for himself.

I have 2 Buck knives that are folders. They are a little to big for everyday carry. I have about 8 fixed blade knives.

I have some Pumas and a bunch of Soligen steel knives that i do not know the names of or i forgot the names of.

My Dad collected fixed blade knives and when he passed i got most of them.

I do not skin anything anymore so they will not be used anymore for a while.

Hard to pick just one, but my Morseth hunter is right up there as well as a custom Merle Sequine (originator of the gut hook and early knives made from Henry J flat springs). Morseth, I believe, was bought out by A.G. Russell and Merle, I'm sure, has gone to his reward.

Not really a knife man. I carry a Gerber, have a couple Ka-Bar fixed blade. One came from a Search & Rescue vet and I keep it in his honor. Have in the past carried a Buck 110 .

There are many good ones out there, but I've stuck with just two brands over the years: A Spyderco has always been clipped in my pocket for the last 25+ years, the brand has served me well. A "tanto blade" Benchmade folder was/is an ever present fixture on my web gear. It holds an incredible edge and has been used for countless things that I'm sure the designers never contemplated. Like an old Timex watch, it's taken a severe licking and just keeps on "ticking". Great piece of steel.
