Put an illuminated reticence scope on it and gave it to my dad.
Paid less then half of what you have bids to now.
Never regretted it - mint condition.
Tack driver - but frustrating.
My gun prints smaller groups with heavier bullets - the 220 and 240 grain heads will put 5 rounds in a nickel sized grouping at 100 yds...
But they will thump you some when you pull the trigger.
Is yours a factory deluxe model???
The Checkering looks especially fine and the pistol grip cap cannot be standard???
Good gun.
Mike
I bought a Remington model 721 in .30-06 maybe 15+ years ago during the gunshop days...

Some had the Remington marked grip caps some had plain caps. This wood is extremely grained and yes the checkering is crisp. Sling attachments are where they are supposed to be and I believe this was a "BDL" version and a top of the line one at that. Bluing is rich and deep. Don't think there is a much better version of this model in any caliber of this model, let alone in 243 Win.
If I saw yours on a rack in a shop it would catch my eye for certain.
These were below the radar budget buys once upon a time.
How much past $1200 do you predict???
The 721 - 722 - 725 series are superior in build and accuracy to many rifles that sell for thousands now.
Mike
Thanks.

Thanks for the words. Heck, timing is a factor here.I have seen the same guns run a week, no bids, next week, runs past the opening bid by couple hundred. Last one I saw on here was like 2012? and this one is nicer, It brought 1500,,,Who knows, I would pizz my pants if I got that and I like the start BUT if might languish there, hope not!!
I saw one once in 25-06, but wasn't sure it met the right timeline of 725 production. I couldn't afford it at the time anyway.
The model 30 iterations and variations as well.
Your gun has the detachable footplate...
And the retro model 30 safety...
And possibly all of yours were ADL models but there is some debate about that...
6 groove rifling - you don't see that a lot
Ever seen a .244 Remington 725 ADL???
and good pics - sometimes when I see good pics in a publication or book or online it starts a cascade of deign history and lore and data in my brain...
Now I have to look it up in rifles of the world and reread the data specs and history...
And pull out the file on mine and call my dad to talk about his / my 721
It's a gem and a peach and worth watching
The muzzle crown detracts a bit with the finish loss and you do show some minor rack dents
Wicked good design even if still utilizing recycled patents and pieces
Mike
The 725 was the Cadillac of Rems bolt action line with the 721 and 722. That was 50 years od so ago.
The 720 was actually nicer. Although, of the 725's I've seen, I do think they are pretty nice.
