I found out Tuesday My Uncle had cancer. thru the family grape vine which is slow ( he is my last uncle and last of my moms brothers and sisters all have passed )
I was in town tonight and ran into one of his daughters, I ask how he was, not good maybe hours hospice was helping out and I better go if I want to see him
I ask his wife what happened . she said he was doing Ok noticed his foot and leg swelling up so that got the doctors / hospital involved she said about two or so weeks of
trips and treatments for a nasty infection and assorted test by now he could not walk or stand . then after more test they broke the news stage 4 cancer spread out from his colon into the rest of his body .
he has not had food or water for just under two weeks , just drugs to keep him knocked out and as pain free as they can until the end
he was always the fun guy when I was growing up loved fast cars taught me how to repair ( and break them ) sold me my first car a 65 mustang then spent time helping me install headers and a 4 speed among other items always a clown I will miss him greatly more like a big brother in some ways than a uncle
he was a PBR drinker from way back never smoked and thought himself a ladies man which cost him his marriage later on
here's to a safe and peaceful journey Uncle Tom
oh one last thought he was a total blue oval fan if one ever lived . lots of old ford hot rods in his past

this really caught me off guard
I called my wife and youngest son they came by also . I left to go home and take care of our pets . after I left my wife said one of the daughters who was there also yelled get down grabbed her kids and hit the floor yelling "shots fired" some one was shooting just out side the house . wife and son also ducked down said a group of kids in the street and with in moments LEO arrived ( 3 blocks from the police station they arrived and started sorting out the kids and pulling more from the cars .
as best they could tell no one was hit my son said it sounded like a 22 maybe 10 rounds ..
but scared and caught them off guard ( my son packs and is a instructor not that it matters but at least some comfort )
I grew up in the town its still a small town but I guess no one is immune from plain stupid any more
I missed out by maybe 10 minutes .
