Just took wife and the kids for a walk. Got outside and boy the smoke is thick! Thought maybe a house was on fire somewhere close! But it smelled like a camp fire? Got home turned on the news. Whole denver area is smothered in a cloud of smoke! Comming from a forrest fire 55 miles sw of denver. WOW, this thing is currently consumeing 500 acres an hour according to the news! Guess all fire and police stations are swamped with callers concerned about the smoke and the ash thats currently falling!! Seems alot of so called concered citizens are worried about there health because of the smoke and ash! Most say its a repulsive smell!! Personally I think it smells nice, always liked the smell of a good campfire!!
The fire was started last night by careless campers, High winds and extremely dry conditions have contributed to the fast burn rate.
So far no loss of homes, but there are several that are threatened.
No loss of life has been reported. Many towns have been evacuated due to the smoke and ash!! Looks like all us out here in Colo are in for a long fire season!

Of course I can play the piano, as long as it has pedals!

Hope they get it under control for you before it gets much worse.
Tell me, is Colorado getting to be like a little California with all those bleading heart liberals moving in there, and bringing their problems with them too?
Man, I'll tell you, I've been hunting in Montana and Idaho since 1974 and those natives don't have much use for them.
NO offence to you fellow sportsman and gun lovers who happen to live in Calif. I've been to almost every state in the lower 40's except Calif. Don't care if I ever do.
Sorry for getting off the main subject, but I had to find out how a Coloradian felt about it.

Dupont.........Your thread brings up a thought........All these firemen and others risking their lives to put out this fire make in one year what a "sports entertainer" makes in a few minutes in one game...........This is some kind of backwards.......cops,firemen,state workers, parish or county workers etc etc etc that make this world go around make dirt compared to these "ball" players.........Good luck to all fighting the fire...

To put it nicely, yes we are over run with those Cali folk!
Not to mention there crazy Ideas! Was hopeing for a good snow this last year to send them back, but it never came

    COONASS

I totally agree with you!! I feel if most "entertainers" had to work at a real blue color job they'd starve!!! Way overpaid and under worked they are!! Judgeing by the way some of them played this last year, I think a good paycut would make them try harder? If I worked like some played, I'd be looking for work!!!

BTW I met Elway a few years ago, Nice on TV, Total J###@$$ in person!!! Have heard similiar reports from others who have met him!!

I took a ride down to town today and saw all that smoke. That is a lot of smoke. The two states that are overrunning Colo. is Cali. and Texas. Texas aint so bad, it's all those from Cali bringing their bad ideas and really bad habits with them. I have been wishing for a couple of those 4-5 foot snows, and 20-30 below zero for a couple of weeks, that we used to get every year, to show them what Colorado can be like. It would look like a wagon train of U-Hauls pulling out of here. No offence to anyone still living in either state.A Colorado native!

If I knew then, what I know now.

    Dupont,
Yeah, I've been through Vail a couple of times, those high & mighty muckity mucks really Fu#@ed up those beautiful mountains. How in hell did the all famous DPE or The EPA ever let them do that. Hell, I live on a lake and I have to go through an act of congress to do anything in my yard.

Another thing, why is the price of gas so darn much higher in Vail than at the bottom of the mountain? Muckity Mucks???

I love the mountains out west, and prefer to hunt in wilderness areas so I don't have to see that Sh@%. If we have to have forest fires, why can't we pick the locations? Know what I mean.
