Got back this evening from my trip to Boone to drop of the old AR10 with the aluminum welder and the machinist.I tried to get up with Dunedan, but those young guys are always on the go.Shame really.I brought the FAL carbine, the Garand, the Colt Hbar Competition, the new Kimber and the Sporting 28 gauge Rem 1100 in case Spiny was around for some clays. My buddy the machinist and his 14 year old son[who's already taller than me]and another of my old friends who just happened to show up took all the guns to a cow pasture and set up some targets against the side of the mountain. I brought enough ammo for a small war and left with a full eight round mag for the Kimber. The boy learned that grabbing a rifle by the barrel after it had a couple hundred rounds through it was not smart.Ouch! He and his Dad fell in love with the FAL and insisted that I find them one of their own. They liked the 223, but thought it was a little wimpy compared to the 06 or the 308. Mountain boys like the big boom! I'll be heading back in a few weeks to pick up the AR10 and will bring a bunch of guns for them to try.Part of the joy in collecting is exposing folks to the kinds of guns they probably would never get to shoot and seeing the ear to ear grins on there faces when they let off a stream of rapid fire hardball. Just to give you an idea of how much fun we had, we had everyone else loading mags with one guy always shooting and we shot non-stop for two and a half hours.

Big Daddy my heros have always been cowboys, they still are it seems
