As a Georgia resident I'm past tired of seeing food stamp people buying handfuls of $10 & $20 lotto tickets and cases of beer with cash (greenbacks), I salute my state government for finally using some long overdue common sense, I just hope it doesn't disappear.

I'm with you. Really tired of seeing these parasites buying baskets of groceries on EBT then buying beer and lotto with cash and piling it all into an escalade and driving back to a Section 8 house in a nice neighborhood.

What is also interesting and I have seen this happen at least 5 times in neighborhoods I have lived in. "Owners" of these section 8 houses get paid more than enough by the state to cover the mortgage and STILL end up going bankrupt. I think they are playing both sides of the game and never paying on the mortgages. The one that used to be across the street from me years ago woman had more than 15 houses. Lost them all

all the states should have the very least the same rule
to me it should be 1000X tougher to get a free ride

when I was much younger I had friends and many neighbors , male and female some married couples and some of the gals with kids and the fellows with some story why they could not work . on welfare they use to make fun of me for having to go home early to get up the next day and go to work.
sure I had nicer "stuff : for working for it but they still had a free ride [:(!]as in housing, ,medical, food stamps and so on all had cars and had plenty of smokes and booze and all the time to what ever they wanted each day . to be honest for a long time I thought they had the right idea [V]
I just could not have lived with my self if I had went that road

Oh ! and lets not forget all those 200# + food stamp beauties that have the extra cash to decorate themselves with expensive tatoos and exotic fingernails [:(!].

What the story doesn't talk about is that these people didn't lose their benefits. They chose to forego the foodstamps because they didn't want to meet the work requirements.

They must work 20 hours, be enrolled in job training, or they can volunteer at community organizations.

Not exactly totin' that barge or liftin' that bale.

    This isn't a "new" requirement.

These are the requirements that have been in place since "welfare reform" in the 1990s.

Most (but not all) states chose to waive the requirements until recently. Georgia is just the most recent state to stop grantin the waiver.

This has been going on for a long time. In the past recipients would be given food. Then some would sell at a discount to restaurants and then spend the money elsewhere.

I'm sure this was going on before I found out about it over half a century ago. It's way past the time to correct the problem.

Its designed for a temporary bridge for someone who lost their job. It has become life for many and Im glad they are making them work.

I would also be in favor of drug testing.
If you can buy yo's drugs you can buy yo's food..
Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

TIME to cut the lazy leeches off.

Free stuff for life, multiple generations. Uhh........NO.

    Even the Bible says,

Let those who will not work, not eat.

As others have posted previously in this thread, I get fed up observing EBT card users eating better then I do, when I work my butt off to provide for myself.

(And) As has also been said, then go out and get in their Escalade to drive off. Freakin' Pathetic.

    Way to go Georgia!

Georgia government officials are going to get their ovaries busted.

Every "rights" group in the country is going to file suit in every court. Legal fees, activation of the GA National Guard, & police overtime will break the budget.
