Anyone have a Browning 1911-380?

I am thinking about picking one up for the lady in my life.

She likes my .45, but its just too much gun for her. Have been curious about the Brownings for a couple of years, but never had the opportunity to handle (let alone shoot) one in person.

Not a Browning but a Iver Johnson Pony .380. When my wifes best friend retired from being a federal marshall she sold me this .380 her back up gun. This is a very nice shooting gun. If you can find one buy it.

    I have.

I own a Colt New Agent 9mm, which is a fantastic gun, but still more than she likes.

the armscor RIA 380 1911 style got high reviews in the Gun Tests magazine and are a less expensive than a browning......i have 2 of the RIA, a 22lr and 22 magnum pistol and are quite satisfied ... even less expensive and smaller are the bersa 380 pistols(DA) ...i have 2 and they work great

I was looking at the Browning also (dubbed the "Baby Browning"). I saw several at local gun shows and most are going for $600. Polymer frame gun. I found the RIA "Baby Rock" for $429, but heard they had some feeding problems. Hit or miss quality- some run flawless, some will not run at all[xx(]. A old brand has been revived recently by Metro Arms- Llama Micromax .380 ($399). Once made in Spain, the new Llama is made in the Phillipines on new CNC machines with lifetime warranty. I have been waiting to find one, but they are scarce. They are available in black or hard chrome. From everything I have read, the new Llama pistols are very nice. Available in many full size variations chambered in .45 ACP, .38 Super and .380 ACP in the Micromax.

always heard the llamas were made of softer metal ??? wonder if these new ones are made by RIA or Armscor who already make a 1911 clone in 380(gun tests gave it highmarks)...had two of the llama in 22lr.. neat little SA and hard to find in primo shape..traded one in on a CZ 75B in 9mm...

Eagle Imports (AKA Metro Arms) imports the new Llama, Bersa, Grand Power and many others. Armscor and Rock Island are basically the same. Not sure about Charles Daly.

The reason so many firearms are being imported from Turkey is the exchange rate. Right now the US dollar has a lot of buying power in Turkey and we are seeing the lower priced guns being imported. The quality I have seen first hand on most is outstanding. I have done extensive accuracy, reliability and functionality testing on many of the Turkish guns and found them to be a real value. Not all Turkish guns, but many.
