    Itgobang:

"Lets see.... Wilson's new rules, "No Unckle Mikes Holsters" Thats one of the best selling holsters!!! Maybe he dont like them cuz he has money in a company that makes Holsters ( check for your self) You have a box that your gun needs to fit into with a mag in it..Gun with a Wilson mag will fit in the box, but Chip's will not. Some Sig guns are too heavy, but none of the Wilson guns are. Mag pouch needs to cover 2" of the mag, and upsidedown, mags will not fall out. Some mag pouches are just fraction short of 2", but that same company the makes holsters he has money in makes mag pouches that are 2".... When IDPA first got going it was said, "you dont need to buy a lot of BIG money holsters and things" That was to keep all the race crap out of IDPA..."

On the first issue. Uncle Mike Holsters, those are a JOKE IHMO, specially the ones with no retension strap on top to even hold the gun. ANY FRICTION HOLSTER should not be used for real world carry. I have seen more guns come out of holsters during training in those Uncle Mikes than any other holster. You know why people buy them? Cheap and fast. Good for competetion but not real world use.

Chip vs Wilson mags. Um, I think you are WRONG here. If you take a 8 round CHIP power mag and a 8 round Wilson mag, both with low profile base plates they are pretty much the same size. Now if you are talking about the Chip mags with the super long base for COMPETITION USE of course they shouldn't fit in that box of yours because its not meant for real world carry, that extra long base plate is meant to be used with a big magwell to AID in speed loading which adds to the size of the gun. You ever try to carry a full size 1911 with a extra long base pad? You would print like crazy if you weren't wearing heavy winter clothing.

Weight of a gun. Which Sig gun are talking about? And what Wilson gun are you talking about?

Have you seen what people carry for mag pouches in competition? Mags fall out all the time because people want to set the friction as low as possible so they can access them faster. 2" covering a mag that is almost 6 inches or more is not too much to ask.

And your whole theory of WILSON trying to steer IDPA in a direction where his company can make more money? YAH, good one there. For one, Wilson Combat has always pretty much design 1911s and other firearms STRICTLY for fighting. Not like STI, or Caspian, or these other companies designing guns strictly for competition use.

Even with the rule changes I seriously doubt everyone is going to go out and buy Wilson products just for competition. Not every man or woman can afford a 2500.00 Wilson Combat 1911. Nor do they want to shoot a 1911.

IMHO, I believe IDPA is on the right track. If it was up to me the rules would even be more strict. You know as well as I do that IDPA will turn into IPSC if the rules are not changed. If every man and woman was honest and shoot what they would carry on a daily basis that would be great. Won't happen though because of human nature. Everyone wants to win.

I stop shooting it for now, hopefully more rule changes will bring it back to what it is suppose to be. Real world tactics and real world equipment.

I shot a match yesterday and have never heard of so many rules beyond those that are safety rules!

I wonder if it really helps in real world shooting situations.

I think that any trigger time is good, but as a new shooter, there just seemed to be a lot of rules.

    What say you?

Does anyone have any experience shooting at IDPA matches? Theres an IDPA affilated club about 40 minutes from home and I thought about trying it out this spring. Any feedback or opinions negative or positive would be welcome. Thanks.
