Reading and not posting

I have seen alot of posts here read 300+ times, and only have 1 or 2 replys. If I think a post looks interesting to me, and read it, I will post a reply. Some people reading might not know the answer, but if the post is asking your opinion, why read it and not respond? Are people afraid of saying the "wrong thing". I have had a few bad replys to my posts. Someone wanted to open a can of whoop as* on me, whatever that is. Some people reply sarcasticly. Some are just plain stupid. I like reading replys to my posts, that's why I do them. I value everyones opinion. If you don't like what you see, say it. POST A REPLY.

I would like to post a reply, But I dont have any opinions on anything. Except tools, cars, motercycles, trucks, posessed guns, stupid things people do, beer, stupid things people do while drinking beer, and freshly dissasembled hogs.

I only post when I feel that I have something to contribute to the topic. We have many members here that have a greater knowledge about certain topics than I do so I let them add their 2 cents. I like to keep my mouth shut or fingers off the keys and learn.

I rush in where others flee.

Tools1, we are very similar, exept for the motorcycles. I own about 20k worth of tools. I am a auto mechanic. Ham is my favorite food, besides pizza, and I have spent more than I like to think on cars and beer...

    I don`t post much either,
    I just kinda hang around,
    and wait for sombody to
    ask somethin` about bees.
    Then it becomes my time
    to shine.

Sometimes it is a long wait,
    and I don`t shine,in fact,
    at times,I feel rather dim.

In all honesty I don't post as much as I would like because I'm a really poor writer and even worst speller,, and sometimes it really pisses me off when some one gets on my case about it or totally misses what I'm tring to say and goes off half cocked about it.. the other thing that really gets to me is when you take the time to reply to some ones question or you reply to a person by name and they don't even bother to reply back with a thanks or kiss off or what ever

If everyone that read a topic replied, the threads would be too long and nobody would read many of them. Those who feel they have something of value (that's an opinion of course) to contribute normally reply. This wasn't of much value but it is a reply...

I read far more than I post. Mainly because I'm at work and can sneak time to read but replying takes up a little too much time. Other times, if someone has posted a reply which is pretty much what I was going to say I see no reason to post what amounts to a 'me too'.

I think I am a little to damn opinionated
for this site...I have a way of really stirring
things up. When it comes to gun knowledge i don't
know all that much...I know more about the critters
I hunt than the guns and bows I kill them with.

trying to keep a lid on it..........

I think alot of people like to read for the info. I read thru post all the time and do not reply. If it is something I know about I will post. If it is something I do not know about I will read to learn. I read almost every post every day.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

If I responded to every post I read, I'd be reading half as many. There just isn't enough time to reply to every thread, I post where I can make the greatest contribution.

Did somebody say something about Bees?

You can see from the numbers that I have posted a lot. Sometimes I know what I am talking about, sometimes a thread lends itself to kidding around. I read a lot more than I post, and have learned a lot. I have also figured out to some degree which of the posters know something about what they are posting on, and which posters know everything about everything. I know a fair amount about scopes and some rifles, and not much about bees, cause .218 won't give me one.

I's called the "freedom of reply to post act". Sometimes I feel like listening and learning, instead of talking.

rameleni1, I think you can see it from a few different angles. Some members, just post and post. Some members post a lot at first, and maybe then back off a little when they feel that they could get away with posting less. Some lurk and learn, and will provide an answer or opinion when motivated to do so. Some, just think their opinion is gospel and reply with genuinely bad intentions, i.e. to make fun of someone's question which might have been covered when they were not here or before they were a member or to argue the superiority of their choice over another's.

All in all, most of the members are helpful and are not withdrawn when extending their opinions. As with any exposure to the public or otherwise new group of humans, you must try to determine who has similar beleifs and opinions as yourself, and rely on their responses to help give you honest guidence or sincere replys. The flip side is, you must also know who to take with the proverbial "grain of salt", and simply read on. I will extend my opinion on any topic I feel like discussing, and sometimes not on others, due to the fact that you just don't feel like arguing wether the sky is falling with same bunch of posters who's opinions have varied from yours in the past and no doubt will now, therfore, in that case, I would be one of the "read" and not one of the "replys", so I too am guilty of that. I have debated different points of view with many members, and still hold no grudge. They are entitled to their opinions, just as I am. By debating, you gain a look at something from an angle you may have otherwise overlooked. I use it as a growth experience, even if my opponent in the debate sees it as merely an argument. should they choose to read your thread or someone elses thread, and not reply, there are other forces at work besides just not replying, perhaps dissagreeing in the past, coupled with pride and a sense of being right, prevents them from providing any opinions. Or, perhaps it is a topic they have spent little or no time thinking about, and are therefore reluctant to reply before fully understanding thier own position. One must interpret one's own reaction to new things, and then clarify to him/her self what their official position may be.Sorry if I just rambled, but I did as I stated, I extended my opinion on a thread where I felt I wished to reply, albeit long winded. So post away, I will reply if I can provide a point of view or advise I feel to be beneficial. Nice topic by the way, there is no shortage on this one.

I don't reply a lot. I enjoy reading the posts and read them about every day, but sometimes I think I have something useful to add, sometimes I don't. I have opinions on just about everything, but they aren't always appropriate, and most things get answered better than I feel I can do it.

I do agree with the mainstream of opinions here. I don't post on everything I read also. I just don't understand seeing 300 read, and 2 replys.
