Target Shooting

I have skydived over 300 times. I have SCUBA dived through narrow caves, but the adrenalen rush I got this morning target shooting at a range matches them all. Who would have known? I started shooting pistols this month and I am having a blast. (Bad Pun)

I look forward to learning more about guns and shooting at the ranges and in these forums.

just a pictures of the old meat rifle dad used when times were tough
it still has its touch. the target was at 75 yards. 3x2 circle 7 rapid shots, 1" high 4 cut holes. not bad for an old rifle and an old guy that maybe shoots every 5-6 years[:D]

Very late one night and well into the night roster at the comm center and I was bored and playing with my pistol, as the rubber end of a pencil will eject after being hit by the hammer. Scoring well at 90 or so out of 100.The duty officer came in and saw the game I was playing and promptly revved as he thought he should. Straight after speaking to me he at least said that it wasn't as if I was asleep at my post or anything and quickly drew his own pistol, inserted a pencil, aimed at the paper waste basket target and fired.Result: one wasted basket and pencil and sh$t load of explaining to do....at least I had cleared my pistol.Author wishes to remain anonomous

Glad to have you here, Skydive. Yes, shooting is a wonderful sport and one which levels the playing field in many ways. Watch out you don't teach your wife / girlfriend how to shoot . . . you'll find she will almost certainly be a better shot! Kidding about not teaching her - not kidding about the results.

Ground rush on a low cutaway = adrenalen rush, but so does hitting center mass. Stay out of underwater caves and stay out of airplanes with a missing door and stick with shooting as it's just as fun and alot safer. Just kidding, keep doing all three step by step and safely. The trick to enjoying high risk sports/activities is reaching retirement age alive and in one piece.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

Thanks all, But I already have my wife hooked at the rifle range. She hasn't fired a pistol yet but it's probably next, and your right.... she's a better shot that I am with a rifle.

Gunpaq: You've obviously skydived based on your quote. From 100 to 200 jumps it was pack fast and get in the air, then a lot of playing chicken with low pulls. After taking the BIC and a jumpmaster class I stopped pulling low. I even started paying more attention to packing after my wife had two cutaways from sloppy pack jobs.

I think I'll take some time away from the caves and skies and focus on shooting this winter. I look forward to learning from you guys and getting your feedback. Thanks again!

You know, if you're an adrenaline junky, you should look into getting into the profession of LAW ENFORCEMENT. There's nothing like walking up to a car full of armed drug dealers on a full moon after your lunch break.... (Not that I have done that, I'm still in the acadamy, graduating in 4 MORE WEEKS, yay...)

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Welcome skydive. I learned the Joy of shooting this year too. Welcome to the board.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.
