I am going to be in the market for a ccw hopefully in the next month or so. I would prefer a .45 or a .40 possibly the .357 sig. I have been looking at different models, the Para Ordanance CCW, Kahr P45, Springfield xd40 sub, would also consider Sig, HK, or Kimber. What is the best gun and caliber for a carry weapon for the price?

I'm looking to buy a concealed carry weapon - I will be carrying it in a back or an ultra concealed pant holster. Any recommendations on the best concealed carry weapon out there? Thanks for the advice...

Just one mans opinion but I would try out a few at the gun shop and see what I liked best. However I wouldnt carry nothing below a 9mm.I prefer the Beretta 9000 its a ten +1 shot 9mm or .40 caliber. Its a small package but alot of punch.

    Best!!

I just got my CCW not to long ago. I had a hard time trying to find something for me. I wanted something high powered and concealed well. I am a big guy (6'5" - 270). I ended up with a sig pro. Its a big gun but I am a big guy. I figure if it is good enough for the LEO it is good enough for me. If I was smaller I would go for the glock 36. But thats me.

I like the Glock 23 and 32. If you need smaller I would go with a Kahr 40.

Even though I'm 6 ft. and 220, I find that I have downsized to mini big bores like the Glock 27, Taurus PT145, officer sized 1911 type, or small frame .44 special revolver. Bigger guns, even the compacts like the G23, are just more hassle than I want to deal with.

Choose hi-ride belt or paddle holsters if wearing a jacket, and a belly band, ankle rig or thunderwear for deepest concealment. You could also use a camo device like a day planner, camera bag, fanny pak. The only thing in between is IWB or SOB, which hurt more. You say pant holster, so I would respond that even the IWB holsters leave the grip out. If go really small, like a .380 Guardian or .32 Tomcat or maybe a .380 Mustang or Pony, you might get one of those pager holsters -- you lift up the fake pager and the gun holster comes up with it so you can draw. If you carry in a front pocket, you'll be limited to nothing larger than a G27 at the very biggest, and more likely a small frame revolver with compact grip, or a .380 of one kind or another. If you do that regularly, sew in a leather pocket liner so it will hold up for a while. Light cloth and steel don't go together well for long.
