As I sit here wasting the day with sick kids at home, I got nothing better to do than play on the computer.
After reading several posts this morning,I have to share a recent event that happened last week.
Where I work I have the duty of not only being a loan officer, but also running the local branch of the oldest community bank in Texas. This job also allows me to hire local police officers for security.
Over the years I have met some of the best people in the law enforcement business. Several of which I now consider very good friends. Including "Rhonda" who I dream about putting cuffs on me....will save that for another story.
Also, these guys are some of the best "gun nuts" to talk with about my favorite passion.
I got pulled over last week by what seemed to be a young rookie and discovered that I had let my inspection sticker expire. After putting my license plate and drivers name and number over the radio to check me out, I noticed it was taking what I thought a long time to bless me with the ticket I had earned.
About the time I was ready to come out of my car to ask what the holdup was, three units pulled up behind him. And you guessed it. It was three of my police officer friends coming to the rescue.
Drove off with just a warning. It's nice to have friends in high places.

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.
Here's one for you: I have a friend that was a policeman 18 years in Texas, and is presently a branch manger of a bank now in the North Texas area. Guess life does take some strange turns.

As we all say......"There is always one bad apple in the barrel".
But for the most part I have found the people who serve us all, to be great folks.
Been in law enforcement for over 24 years. Not a blemish on my record. Have a good report with the local citizens and youth groups. When the libs thought they had me cornered and about to be ejected from my job, my friends, the local citizens showed up in force and packed a council meeting in my defence. One opposed me. Of course he was most likely wearing lace on his underwear but wouldn't admit it. For the next two council meetings good citizens were there to guard and make sure the libs didn't try a sneak attack. Yes it is good to have friends and my hometown folk are about as good as they come. May God richly bless them.
