Certainly in time for 2016.

http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/now-obama-wants-to-make-voting-mandatory-for-everyone

I'm sure it'll include the five million illegals he wants to bring in.

"He says if everyone voted in the U.S., it would completely change the political map."

Yes, there are millions of ignorant voters who want more free stuff, and don't care how much that hurts the country.

I hope Congress can stop him.

I recently read something about the USA having like 65 million people over the age of 112 . I think KAMsales has a point there.

Might help our Social Security budget as well.

    Mandatory voting?

I would like to say mandatory tax paying first.

    - and -

I suppose, while we are at it, how about mandatory military service?

IF everyone voted it might actually go the wrong way for them.

A great example of how he has no functional knowledge of the law and the Constitution, even though he claims to be a "Constitutional scholar."

Nothing says freedom and liberty quite like making something mandatory.

He wants DC to force everybody to do everything. He's a commie and that's what they do. As a Democrat he wants to force young people to the polls because they are a huge voting block for liberals but they don't bother to vote. Frustrates the hell out of Democrats.

Minorities vote at a lower ration than whites. Whites vote 50/50 between Right & Left. Minorities & Jews vote 90%+ for Leftists. Mandatory voting would push the balance of power to the left. As will Amnesty for Illegal Aliens. Welcome to Brown-America, sliding closer to 3rd World status.

    Ok. Here is a scenereo.
Last voting cycle I got a call Monday night from my boss to catch a flight early Tuesday morning to a jobsite out of state. I was not in town to vote so I missed this one. What happens to me under Obozos proposal? Do I pay a fine? Go to Jail? Loose my job because I told my boss I couldn't go until I voted?

Voting is a responsibility that shamefully few Americans are up to the task for, either physically or mentally.
Frankly if an American doesn't want to vote for whatever lame reason, I fully support that persons right not to.
We have way too many ignorant and no-account people voting now. If I had my druthers, only land owners or people that have served in the military would have a right to vote. Those people actually have a stake in America rather than just a free ride.

This is why we have the electoral college (in red). I'm all on board with the land owner/mil service requirement. Been saying so for some time now.

No surprise here. It would not surprise me if used the power of IRS to make people vote. If you don't vote, you will pay a stiff fine.

...... but no ID would be required. If government can fine you for not having healthcare insurance, why not for refusing to vote?

Anything is possible from BHO, he considers himself more of an emperor rather than the POTUS.

I all for that, heck I think we should go back to Jim Crow type voting rules:

    1. Land Owner or Vet
    2. Pay a Poll tax of say 3-5 bucks
    3. Tax payer
    4. Not on welfare, section 8 or EBT
    5. Short test on the laws of America and the Constitution.
    6. Have a valid ID and proof you are a citizen of the US and the state you reside and vote in.

But to force everyone to vote is..................unconstitutional.

After spending 1 year in federal prison, they bring a new cell mate into share my cell. After settling in he asks "what are you in for". I reply "for not voting".

We have way too many ignorant landowners and vets voting. Having a personal stake does not necessarily translate into vote for country over personal interest.

    Rack Ops rules for voting:

    Must be 18

Must have paid income taxes in the past year (if your "return" is more than you paid in, you don't vote)

If you received public assistance in the last year, no vote.

The landowner requirement was good enough for Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, Hancock, Madison, and Jackson.
I value their opinions more than anyones here.

    A history test/citizenship test wouldn't be a bad requirement either.[:p]

Franklin too! How could I have forgotten him?![:I]

Instead of a law forcing people to vote there should be a law requiring mandatory background checks on people running for political office. If they can't pass the same background check as someone purchasing a gun then they don't need to be in a position of making laws for law abiding people.
