hey guys, i dont usually post here in order to keep my blood pressure in check, but i was watching local news about the beginning of quanza and as the reporter was taping, they introduced the beginning of the 'black national anthem' at a church service. now correct me if im wrong, but isnt this america? and too, ive never heard of the africa national anthem simply because africa consists of numerous countries, so how can these 'blacks' in america invent a national(racial) anthem? is it just me or is my 'lets have a riot' fur going up on others backs besides me? give me some insight guys. thanks.

Its been said over and over, Ifn your of an ethnic background, ya cant be racist, however ifn your White, and want anything white, ya be a racist, cant have any White organizations, or Pagents, or anything, OH well, I once posted in here a list of ethnic organizations, and it numbered in the hundreds, and only 4 National white organizations of which three were considered EXTREME and Racist,

hi whiteclouder! folks, whiteclouder and i go back to gb's beginnings. if i had kept up on my posting i'd be up in the 1,000's like he is! but, when you get married and buy a 21 room house, life changes, and so does everything the wife wants in each room! oh, and i left when gb starting charging, that was the other reason i left! just remembered! man....ive been out of action on this computer for 4 years! anyway, im back and i hang out over in the expert room. come on by and talk guns anytime w.c! thanks for all your answers. so quanza is a celebration. ok, and it was created in 1978. ok. why wasnt american celebrations good enough? see, my take is if equal rights means equal, each side cant have something the other side doesnt have. if they want a historical african, irish, polish, italian day fine. so why do blacks get a week? im sorry...another week? they already have black history week, or was it a month! holy cow. just give them the whole year!~ see, its not equal. is there anyone who is a negro on this website that can help us understand? i say negro because there is no such thing as an african american. africa is a continent. either pick a country and drop the african thing. its like me saying im a european american. heck, lets all just say we are all from one of the 12 tribes of isreal and get it over with!

The other night I got to watching an HBO show called "Color Purple" the story line was a sorrowful cituation about a young black girl who had a pretty rotten life when she was young and even after she matured. She got a bad rap but it was all colored folks giving her a rough way to go.

My son-in-law brought a movie to the house and I got in on part of it. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. There was more vulgarity and use of foul mouthed lines than you can count and they even called one another the "N" word, dare I even mention it. My son-in-law apologized for the movie and said he didn't know there was going to be so much trash in it. It almost appeared as though they like being called the "N" word. Now if I used the "N" word, which I don't, I would be a racist, clan hopp'n, skin headed white supremist. [blue]

There are some truly great black people in the world and there is at least one I know of here on GB.com. But I wish the good ones would try and get the others under some kind of control or at least give them some negative feedback. In my view of the world many black people seem to go out of their way to cause under the radar scope racial friction.

I live in scenic IN. We are a big basketball state although you couldn't tell it by watching the IN/KY game a few weeks ago! For 10 years or so, Indy has hosted the "Black Coaches Conference". Can you guys imagine what would go down if someone wanted to host the "White Coaches Conference" here?

I am currenly enrolled at a major university. I hate to tell you this, but the politically correct textbooks already use the term "European American."

As for the term Negro, it is the Spanish word for black. I'm sure many of us remember when this was not a negative term, it was what black people were called. I was chastised by my history teacher for using this term in my writings. I certainly didn't mean any disrepect by using this word, it was the correct nomenclature during the period of history we were discussing. Never-the-less I used the term black in my final exam essay.

In the Marine Corps we were taught that Marines are green. Some are light green, some are dark green, but all are Marines. Too bad we can't just all be Americans.

Let me express a different opinion.

They do have whites only clubs. They are called Country clubs. How many black NASCAR drivers do you see?

Whites do have a BET. It is called TNN. And Vin Diesel was voted in as one of Ebony magazines top 50 influential people. Some of the black girls in the beauty contest are probably more white than black.

This anthem is not going anywhere so why sweat it. If a few people use it as a way of helping them cope with 400 years of oppression, let them.

Blacks have never achieved the promise of "all men being created equal" in this country. When one group has a 400 year head start, it takes more than 40 years to level the playing field.

America still is not safe for blacks to walk in white neighborhoods. The only thing that has changed is that it is now dangerous for whites to walk in black neighborhoods as well. This is not progress for anyone. Non acceptance of other races differences is not healthy for our country. I am still waiting for the day that America accepts 5 black cops kicking the crap out a white man. If OJ had killed a black man and woman, would America had been so divided by it? If this was a Billy Graham group trying to change the national anthem to be more Christian, would you be upset?

I like David Allen Coe but he says working like a * on one of his songs. How many of you can honestly say you have not used that word in private (Mark Fuhrman swore he never said it). One of my friends adopted a black baby. Another friend of mine referred to the kid as a "*". The guys at work think it is funny. To me it is sad that a very sweet 2 year old child is already being judged by his skin.[V]

I do not care if they have a black national anthem anymore than I care about the KKK. They both exist and I won't listen to either one. That is just part of the Freedoms of being an American.

well, since i started this, i will put in my 2 cents and thank you all for your responses. my goal wasnt to spin up the gang, nor to offend, but our marine hit the point i was trying to make. no matter what shade we are, we are suppose to be americans. thus my beef. america isnt suppose to be in splinters, its suppose to be united. race color creed is all set aside by the one uniting force. the force of america. so, am i disapointed with all this black this and black that? yes. if negros,(yes negro's because they are from africa decent and tell your professor he's liberal and tell em a post grad from a liberal university told him he was (me),) want to be americans, shed the roots thing and be americans. embrace the american culture and yes you can still enjoy negro/black cultures just like irish and germans do with octoberfest and st pats day. just dont cram it down our throat and make it mandatory that we bow to your celebration. allow us to sample it as any other group would expect. the history of american negroes is a violent one, im sorry it happened, but its time to put it aside and stop remembering it. stop putting nose rings in your noses, youre not slaves anymore. you are americans. and if you have to evolve thru this, having to have your own quanzas and anthems, do it. hopefully youll evolve beyond it and see that you have higher worth and will receive higher respect if you just blend in with the rest of us americans and be truly americans. learn from the chinese americans. do you see them complaining about the way we used them as pack mules in the 1800's? no, they put it behind them and now they are sucessful and contributing to americas success. im sorry you were slaves in the south. really, but dont blame us, your fellow african countryman sold you out to the portigese. which will always leave me wondering why you would want to link yourself back to your african heritage. why would you embrace the people and culture that sold you out? and then when you are given a chance to prove your worth, you bring cultural gang/tribal violence to america in your ghettos. and you wonder why the others look at you funny. duh. thanks guys. i spoke my peace.

There's no such thing as merely being "American". In fact, in this country, you're harped at for "submerging your ethnic or cultural heritage" if you don't distinguish yourself as a African-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American or whatever other semantic bilge our Great Society insists you recognize yourself as. Let's face it: our schools, from the earliest possible moment, do their damnest to indoctrinate children and young adults that being conscious of one's "ethnic background" is of paramount importance so one doesn't lose one's "cultural identity". You're not supposed to take pride in being an American---may the gods forfend! Revisionist history shows that the country was started by rich white slaveowning males who made their wealth exploiting non-white peoples, so why would you want to take pride in being a mere faceless member of such a poisonous society? No, that won't do at all. It's bad enough you were born a person of non-white ethnicity here---no need to compound the indignity by submerging your "ethnic roots" and regarding yourself as simply one of the herd. That's turning your back on your "cultural and ethnic heritage"; that's being an "Uncle Tom". Nope, if the children of this country are to have ANY chance at the American Dream for themselves, they first have to reject the idea of merely being an "American" to begin with, and insist upon differentiating themselves from other Americans through maintaining a conscious awareness of their "cultural" or "ethnic" or "racial" diversity. So what if it creates divisiveness between themselves and others? That divisiveness is purely the fault of the whites, NOT the teachers who drum the doctrine of "you're different and should be proud and never forget it, not for a single moment" into the heads of children from one generation to the next. Who needs or wants "unity" if it ends up costing some poor child his or her "racial identity"?

But I do have a serious question regarding flag etiquette during the playing of the black anthem...do you grab your crotch and slouch while facing the flag or do you instead simply scratch your butt and flash gang signs continuously during the song. These are things I have seen young blacks doing during the playing of their REAL country's anthem and I wondered if they had incorporated that into their new song. Beach

P.S. To be perfectly fair I have seen a few young white Americans behaving disrespectfully during the National Anthem....but it sure doesn't seem to be as many. Beach
