How are things going? Everything unpacked now and rooms re-painted yet?

Had the closing today on the house and everything went smoothly for the most part. Took all of 40 minutes then it was on to Target, the grocery store, and Home Depot to spend some $$$$. I was a little annoyed with our agent. She was late for the closing and when we did the walk-through of the house with her last night we noticed a part of the vinyl siding was warped. Later I figured that the owners had a new gas grill outside and must have had it too close to the house. I wanted her to bring this up with the sellers agent today which she did, but then just kind of blew it off. It kind of irritated me that she didn't pursue it harder, but then again, probably wasn't worth holding up the deal at the 11th hour over 3 pieces of vinyl siding. I'll chalk it up as a learning experience.

Also had to go down town to the county government building to file for homestead. Don't quite know much about the 'homestead' other than if you don't file for it your taxes just about double. It's free to file so it was a no-brainer!

We get to start moving tomorrow at noon so I think I'll be pretty busy the next week or so. L8R

Did you get your house deal solidified yet? Good news here. Made an offer on a nice house on Wednesday night and the sellers accepted. Gotta be there for the inspection tommorow but the only downside so far is that if everything goes through, the closing date won't be till the 3rd week of August. And the best part is that the house price was at the low end of our price range. With this one I didn't have the 'deer-in-the-head-lights' look compared to the price of a few houses we looked at. Keep me posted on how things go for you.

    Brian,

Received the targets yesterday, hopefully I will be able to get to the desert and punch some holes in them tomorrow. Thanks for your generosity and prompt shipment. If you ever get to Arizona give me a 'heads up' so I can repay.

    Later,

Does it feel good to know it's finally over? You do realize it's not, don't you? Don't forget what I said about making sure you have enough boxes. The fun is just starting. Once your moved in you'll get to fix all the little things you didn't see or take to much notice of before. We have some things in boxes still, and I haven't even had a chance to start thinking about painting yet. But... I've already replaced the kitchen faucet( it wasn't bad the wife just wanted a particular kind ), redid the laundry room floor with tile, replaced the vanity in the downstairs bath, repaired the stairs going to the second floor, added a breaker and ran line from the breaker box for the stove( the house was originally set up for a gas stove), put in a new doorbell, and completely rebuilt the deck. I've put in four ceiling fans, ran cable to the upstairs, and rehung the basement door. Yesterday I ran new lines for the phones. That was two hours of four letter words. I should now be half-owner of Menards'.

What you said about the siding made me laugh. A buddy at work actually cooked about a four x five foot patch of his not to long ago. Luckily enough he had extra left over from when he put it on.
Doesn't seem like your agent was all to concerned about catering to you. Sounds more like she was just in it for the end result. Know what I mean? You peaked my interest with that 'homestead'. I haven't heard mention of it before, but if it will save on our taxes...
    Every little bit, right?

I'm glad the closing went well. I hope the move goes smoothly. Let me know when you get settled in.
