Submariner...I don't pull for anyone cause nascar does nothing for me...sorry. I saw what she was demanding on the Yahoo sports site I think. The house, the servants, the cook, the cars,alimony,etc.,etc.The nerve of some people,I mean get a grip lady, what was she doing before they got married? Does the phrase "gold digger" come to mind? Now if you want to talk about the Isle of Mann motorcycle race,we have something else in common besides guns. Now there is a sure enough kick butt sport! But the P.C. types are talking about banning it.Be a shame to stop what has been going on for more than 100 years!

Submariner hit the caps off button please. All of those so called Earnhart fans that feel that nascar isn't worth watching are more insane than I thought. Dale was a heck of a driver and the longer that I was a nascar fan the more that I respected HIM and his accomplishments in the sport. He was a life lover and was allways a welth of knowledge to his fellow drivers that he liked. One of the last things that I saw him do other than the wreck that ended his life was to extend his middle finger during that race in daytona and flip off some rookie. What a champion. I still regularly watch nascar and watching nascar isn't the same without Dale, but get over it he is dead. Big E wasn't even the best driver, that title belongs to the KING of nascar Richard Petty. I highly respect several drivers but none of them belong on a pedestal like so many have placed big E on to.I am a ( gulp this is hard to say this year anyway ) Jeff Gordon fan and a nascar fan. Jeff will deliver 8 or more winston cup championships, and the most hardcored fans of Dale E. and King Richard can't ever claim that destinction. I believe that big E would maybe have gathered up that 8 championship the year that he died if things were different in turn 4 on that sad day, but who knows? Who knows if Jeff is gay, maybe brook and maybe not. One way or another she deserves maybe 5 million dollars for her service to the kid (as big E started calling Jeffy) and thats it nothing more. I sincerely believe that so many fans have called Jeff G. gay because those fans were tired of watching their favorite drivers compete for SECOND PLACE. IMHO

Submariner, I still watch the races but find it hard to get excited about them. Racing was changing before Earnhardt died. They have turned aside from some of the tracks that helped make it so popular and now a bunch of the tracks are 1 and one half mile clones of Charlotte that it's the same thing over and over. Nascar changes rules weekly it seems to accommadate some brand or competitor and the cars are so similar that the driver is not the most important part anymore. Yes, I thought it was a tragedy when Alan Kulwicki died and J.D. McDuffie and Neil Bonnett and all the rest that you mentioned. I can also show you my scrapbook of pictures from 1963-64 when racing lost Joe Weatherly and Fireball Roberts. I've been a fan for a long time. Sunday afternoons as a kid were spent listening to the races on the radio. I grew up with it. I just don't like what it has become. As far as the greatest drivers go your man Petty is very significant, however in terms of raw driving ability I don't think he was a Dale Earnhardt!! I don't think he was a David Pearson either. ANd who knows what racing history would have been if Curtis Turner had not met an untimely demise. Dale might not have had 7 championships if Tim Richmond could have behaved and Davey hadn't been killed. Anyway, it's time to tune into Darlington. Maybe today we'll see at least one lead change unlike the Busch race yesterday when Burton led every lap!!!

One other thing, the "fat rat's *" comment was probably a direct result of Rusty's sponsors product!! GHD

The Dale Earnhardt fans nedd to GET OVER IT!The man was a race car driver, not a religion!!! He did a helluva lot of good stuff, OFF THE TRACK, that not many people know about. On the track, he would have taken out his grandmother if it meant advancing from 43rd to 42nd. Richard Petty, HAH! Look at the records. He won a great many of his races when they were racing 2 and 3 times a week and he had the sponsorship money to enter ALL the races. His competition didn't. His racing team sucks now because he's too cheap to invest the money to make them competitive. Mudge the historian

Clouder.....Sorry about the "well worn" comeback. I forgot for a moment that you were the only one on this forum that is capable of an original thought.I must admit that I'm amazed by the briefness of your reply. I appreciate it. Your succinctness was only outdone by your pomposity.Mudge the humble
