Are they ever going to change?

Last week I finally decided to give the ol Blazer a much needed tune up. A buddy of mine who works at the local Checker Auto kept buggin me about coming down and spending my hard earned cash at his store. So I finally caved in and said "Ok". This was a mistake. I worked at a Carquest for three years and developed an attitude about Checker and their apparent lack of customer service. I was constantly hearing about people having to wait in line for some kid to tell them they didn't have the part or couldn't find the part in thier computer. So after I left the Carquest I switched brands to NAPA. Every now and then I would stoop down and go to Checker for little things like oil, washer fluid, ect but would get all the important parts at Napa. Almost everytime I went there I would walk out saying to myself "why do I keep coming here?" Anyway, I decided to give my buddy a shot. I walked in and after waiting in line for about 10 minutes I finally got to ask for my parts. I was shocked, they had the cap and rotor and the wires there. I took my parts and headed for the checkout line. The guy in front of me was buying some wiper blades and asked the clerk for help installing them. I was shocked[:(!] the clerk dropped what he was doing and walked outside to install the wipers. So there I stood with cash in hand waiting to buy my parts and the idiot leaves with another guy who had spent maybe $5. That was the the last straw, I calmly set my parts on the counter and left for Napa. What are they thinking? It would have taken the guy less than a minute to ring me up then he could have helped the other customer. Well I can honestly say I won't be spending anymore money at that place EVER[:(!].

Sorry just had to blow off some steam.

Someday when I'm cool I'll have a .50

Truly NAPA is the best at providing good parts. But some of these other chain stores have found that providing a little customer support they get repeat customers of the "sometime shadetree mechinic type".

So they lose a customer like you and they gain fifty that don't have a clue as to what they are doing, and will buy parts they don't need just because the salesman said they needed it.

Sounds like a business plan that might work!
