I know im stupid what dos chrome lining do in the AR?

    Hard Chrome is differant than the stuff you see on bumpers. Hard chrome is used on engine crankshafts to give a very hard surface to bearing faces. Hard chroming in guns provides the same thing. You can use a alloy of steel that works well for the rest of the gun, and hard chrome the parts (chamber, forcing cones, ect) that must withstand a lot of rubbing forces.

    Actually, hard chrome is just regular chrome with viagra added.

    It helps to extend the life of the barrel, and requires less maintenance than those that aren't.


    Don't worry about the bullet with your name on it, worry about the fragmentation grenade addressed 'To Occupant'.

    HOw long would it last with chrome lined and how long would it last with out chrome lined?

    All depends. I forget what the rockwell number is for hard chrome. But I would venture a guess in that it would add 15% to 25% more life to hard chromed parts.
